Revolutionary
- The New Vista-Style and Vista-Lite from GU Technologies
Offering
a fresh take on the revolving door, the new Vista-Style and Vista-Lite
from GU Technologies have been greeted
with interest by designers and architects seeking more flexibility and
greater all-round visibility in matching chosen aluminium curtain walling
or ground floor treatment systems.
Central
to the new design is a range of purpose-designed interchangeable aluminium
profiles that can be combined with a solid or glazed drumwall to provide
up to seven distinct door configurations, increasing the options available
to designers and architects. Available as either a three- or four-leaf
turnstile, the Vista-Style dispenses with visible door bolts. The top
horizontal glazing bead to the curved glass is concealed within the ceiling,
which comprises radially segmented aluminium panels. 'The result is a
cleaner, sleeker look that will enhance any architectural treatment, letting
in more light to create visually stunning entrances.' says the company.
The Vista-Lite with a laminated toughened glass canopy, floor to ceiling
curved glass and purpose designed stainless steel centre pivot / door
clamp assembly, is especially effective when installed as part of an all-glass
facade.
Available in stainless steel, silver and bronze anodised finishes, the
Vista-Style and Vista-Lite can also be supplied in all standard RAL colours
to match preferred colour schemes.
Designed to suit all locations, the new Vista revolving door offers equally
effective and reliable operation in manual, semi- or fully-automatic mode.
The Vista-Style and Vista-Lite are part of the Vista range of revolving
doors, which includes specialist access control and high capacity solutions.

Force
8s Revolutionary One-Piece Georgian Bow
Force
8s
appearances at Construct Ireland and Glassex 2003
saw the window and door manufacturer unveiling its new product for installers
and builders nationwide.
The
company says that the one-piece Georgian Bow window is revolutionary
in that it consists of an easy-to-fit single frame. Similar products on
the market are made up of a collection of pieces that have to be screwed
or welded together.
Force 8s custom-made bow windows replicate the traditional Georgian
window with no unsightly joins or welds. Each of the individual glass
panels is a stand-alone unit, creating a series of artfully constructed
mini-windows, rather than one sheet of glass covering all, adding to the
high quality and performance of the product.
Managing Director, Dennis Sumner is anticipating record sales for 2003
as a result of the companys latest invention: Weve worked
to perfect a product which supersedes anything else that is already on
the market without increasing the cost for our customers. Our Georgian
window is set to give purchasers a radical and far superior alternative
to anything currently available. It should provide a benchmark for the
industry.
Force 8 Fabrications is a family-owned and operated business which manufactures
and supplies windows, doors and conservatories to thousands of installers
and fabricators all over Europe.

Duraflex
Launches Low-Line Bead
With
market trends moving increasingly towards low-line glazing gaskets for
PVCu windows, Duraflex has introduced
a range of Low-Line Beads. Designed to enhance the aesthetic appearance
of the finished frame, the new beading system improves the glass line
by a nominal lOmm with no heavy sightlines visible through the glass.
Compatible With both the 65mm and 70mm Diamond Suite systems, the Low-Line
Bead allows a greater glass area, so recreating the look of a traditional
putty-glazed timber window. Duraflex offers a choice of 28mm Feature,
Putty or Scotia versions to suit all applications.
The Low-Line Bead also complements Duraflex's new Rolled in Gasket (RIG)
option. Offering not only a high-performance seal, RIG also delivers aesthetic
benefits as the gasket is concealed discreetly within the frame.
'The launch of the Low-Line Bead reflects our commitment to continuing
product enhancement for the benefit of our customers. Furthermore, they
can take on these new lines with the minimum of disruption, because all
our developments are designed to be completely interchangeable throughout
the Diamond Suite,' comments Neil Roberts, Director of Marketing at Duraflex.

New
Rainwater Solutions Add Even More Styal to Your Conservatory Roof
Wendland
has now introduced a number of new rainwater options for the Styal system
which aim to further simplify installation, maximise fabrication and improve
aesthetics.
In direct response to customer demand, a full range of round down pipes
and clips supplied by Marshall-Tufflex manufacturer of easy-fit
PVCu guttering systems has now been made available as a standard
option for the Styal system. The new down pipes will make the process
of connecting with existing drainage systems far easier for Styal installers,
saving time on site. The new options also enable the rainwater system
to be fitted with fewer visible joints, improving the visual appeal of
the finished conservatory.
For larger scale conservatories, 6 metre gutter lengths have also been
introduced to the list of Styal standard options. The longer lengths will
enable installers to provide an efficient yet practically seamless drainage
system with fewer unsightly joints, a good selling point for customers
who require large-scale structures.
The new 6m lengths also allow fabricators to benefit from better material
optimisation, resulting in less wastage.
In addition, key bar length components including eaves beams and box gutters
are now available in 4 metre lengths as well as 6 metre lengths, offering
Styal fabricators better material optimisation. Fabricators will be able
to work with a mix of existing stock to produce varied roof sizes, increasing
flexibility and cutting costs by reducing bar length wastage.
All the new Styal rainwater options are available in a range of colours
to compliment the design of any conservatory, whilst any white PVCu Marshall-Tufflex
components are covered by a 10 year colour fastness guarantee for a long-lasting,
low maintenance solution.

Catch
the Latest Window Fittings at Titon
Titon
has a new spring catch and retaining stay which does not require any machining
or drilling to mount the catch, which saves costly fitting time on commercial
projects.
The spring catch and retaining stay clamps into the Eurogroove found on
most open-in aluminium profiles, it requires no strike and is adjustable
for compression. This design allows just one variation to fit the majority
of profiles on the market.
Julian Wiseman, Commercial Director, Titon, says that the fitting is useful
for a whole range of applications spring catches have seemingly
been around since the dawn of time but still remain popular for high level
windows in sanitary areas, kitchens, and workshops etc.
The spring catch and retaining stay are available from Titon in any anodised
or powder coated RAL colour.

Entrance
Doors are Built to Take the Knocks
Versatile,
heavy-duty Ali-Precinct doors developed by PollardsFyrespan
are suitable for shopping centres and other situations where either an
anodised aluminium or powder-coated polyester finish is required. Any
standard colour can be used or alternatively the doors can also be overclad
with brass, bronze or stainless steel. Standard handles, with concealed
fixings, are made of 2.3mm satin-finished stainless steel. Nominal door
size is 842 by 2134mm and any size can be made to order.
The doors are designed to be very robust, with sections made of aluminium
of minimum 4mm thickness. Factory glazing is normally done with 6.4mm
laminated safety glass, secured by security gaskets or neoprene with no
visible glazing beads, and glass up to 11.5mm can be accommodated.
Among optional extras available are glass which is heat-strengthened,
tinted or anti-sun, and clear glass made manifest by lines or dots. Handles
can be made to requirements, as can locking, including most types of deadlocks
and electro-magnetic locks, although standard locking is either by key-operated
concealed espagnolette bolts on the inside or cylinder locks on the outside.
Doors operate on transom or floor springs with bottom pivots and top centres
as required. EPDM finger guards are fitted to hanging stiles to ensure
no-one using the doors can suffer any injury, and the stiles have integral,
siliconised, polypropylene brush seals. Twin brush seals of the same material
are fitted to closing stiles, while top and bottom brush seals are optional.
Matching framing to order is available, and additional options include
horizontal mid-rails, which are made like the main sections, with a depth
of 145mm and removable inner section for glazing with no visible beads.

doors, or sliding doors with breakout facility.

by CWG. Shield frames are internally beaded as standard for enhanced security

'Bog
Standard' Handles & Espags from Winlock! .... Winlock's Short Handle
Solution for Small Downstairs Toilet Windows
Fabricators
are often asked to produce tiny windows with a 200mm sash size for use
in downstairs toilets. This has been impossible with a standard 250mm
espag and a handle that fouls the plaster line.
Winlock has come to the rescue with
the introduction of a specially made 150mm espag gear and a factory-finished
handle with a short grip, which will overcome these difficult situations.
Any handle in Winlock's range can be supplied in this form.
Winlock's sales and marketing director, Philip Swann quipped, 'This is
not rocket science but we are keeping our customers happy and 'flushed'
with success!'

Duraflex
Rolls Out Rosewood
Duraflex
has added Rosewood to the range of foiled options for its Diamond Suite
Featured system with Rolled in Gasket (RIG). The new finish will be introduced
with RIG as standard on both 65mm and 70mm Featured profiles, plus beads
and ancillaries.
The Duraflex Rolled in Gasket is a high performance seal, factory fitted
as part of the extrusion process. The benefits of the RIG are not just
limited to the performance of the seal, there are gains to be made throughout
the manufacturing and installation process.
For the fabricator, RIG products free up valuable floor space and labour
currently used for insertion of gaskets can be redeployed. Duraflex customers
currently using these products have already reported increased output
without a corresponding increase in overheads. RIG also brings benefits
for installers, by eliminating the need to insert gaskets on site with
a product that also offers consistent glazing compression. And the manufacturing
process, which provides a continuous seal with no build up of sprue at
the corner, reduces the risk of costly glass breakages when glazing the
frames.
Duraflex believes the new Rosewood finish for its Featured system with
RIG will prove popular for both new and refurbishment projects, and could
eventually replace Brown Mahogany as the number one foiled finish for
PVCu windows, doors and conservatories. According to Duraflex, the new
option offers an attractive colour that has been further enhanced for
a more natural effect that could easily be mistaken for the real thing.
The range will soon be extended to include Rosewood on white and Rosewood
on brown.

In
the Black with Kolorplas
Complementing
its Tudor style black and white window frames, Kolorplas,
the PVCu fabricator and colour coatings specialist, offers a Black entrance
door as part of its Rainbow Collection. The PVCu doors are coated with
an advanced Infra Red Black (IR Black) paint specifically developed to
resist heat build-up, warping and distortion.
Described by Kolorplas as a technological breakthrough, IR Black paint
offers a black finish and heats to a maximum of only 76°C. This is
considerably lower than the melting point of PVCu, so minimising the problem
of expansion which can occur with black and dark coloured doors. Test
results also indicate that the effect of IR Black when used in mixed colours
is considerably greater than this, with temperature reductions of up to
a further 20°C being measured. In addition, Kolorplas applies the
coating to a white door which further helps to reduce heat build up, particularly
where there is exposure to high levels of sunshine. This also offers benefits
over PVCu doors that are foiled on both sides, where the foil is usually
applied to a brown rather than a white door.
The Rainbow Collection of coloured PVCu entrance doors from Kolorplas
is an exclusive range of quality doors in a choice of traditional and
contemporary styles. The doors are available in red, blue, green and black
and over 1500 other colours, courtesy of acoating process applied by Kolorplas
during manufacture. As well as a choice of colour and design, the Rainbow
Collection is built to high standards for performance, security and durability.
Depending on the door design, frame joints are grooved, mechanical or
hand polished. Also, each door panel in the collection is fully reinforced
with solid ply for extra safety and security. All Kolorplas colour coated
products come with a 10-year warranty for adhesion and colour stability.

Bohle
Cleans and Protects
Bohle's
new System Cleaner Kit and Protect Kits have been specifically developed
for the intensive cleaning and protection of glass surfaces.
Bohle's
System Cleaner Kit can clean grease, lime scale, concrete, oil, corrosion,
silicone residue and even suction cup transfer prints from glass. Supplied
in a convenient kit form with colour-coded containers to match colour
coded cleaning cloths, the System Cleaner Kit is a suitable on-site glass
restoration system. The Kit's handy retail style packaging also makes
it a good re-sale or trade counter product line. Bohle's new cleaning
System works equally well on ceramics, stainless steel, aluminium and
plastics, while the System PC formula is safe for use on low-e and other
metallised coated glass.
Complementing the System Cleaners are Bohle's new Protect Kits, which
are available in two versions, S and NT. Protect S provides long lasting
and durable protection for sandblasted glass surfaces and its simple application
method requires no investment in special equipment. With a 5-year guarantee,
Bohle claims that Protect S is currently the only commercial product of
its kind offering such long service life.
Protect NT from Bohle is designed to protect glass against the ravages
of time and accumulation of dirt of all types. A hydrophobic product using
the latest 'nano' technology, Protect NT is highly effective and easy
to apply. And according to Bohle, the product's 10-year guarantee provides
the longest warranty of any commercially available glass protection product
on the market.
Glass surface decay as a result of dirt and pollution is a growing problem
in busy cities, as is the cost implications of regular maintenance and
renewal. Although new glass types that effectively 'self-clean' are now
available, it's not always practical or financially viable to replace
glass. Bohle's latest glass cleaning products have been developed in direct
response to this dilemma, as Gary Dean, Bohle UK's Managing Director explains,
'Our Cleaning and Protection Systems offer a unique, affordable and easy
to apply solution that keeps glass looking good for much longer. In addition
to these benefits, the 'designed for retail' packaging offers our customers
an interesting re-sale opportunity.'

Quantal
Introduces New 25° Fixed Pitch Roof
Quantal
Conservatory Roofing Systems
is launching a new, economical 25° fixed pitch ridge and eaves beam.
The
fixed pitch roof has been developed in response to market demand, to offer
fabricators and installers a cost-effective alternative to the variable
pitch roofing system.
The ridge is pocket glazed to accept up to 32 mm glazing, reducing the
number of components needed for assembly. This creates a standardised
roof that not only looks good but also is quicker and simpler to fabricate
and install.
Quantal is confident that this will take over from the current 22.5°
product, and that the revised features address the needs of the volume
sector.
The Quantal roof has a durable polyester powder coated aluminium finish,
is internally clad with PVCu for thermal efficiency, and is available
in a variety of different colour finishes.
