Public Sector is Target for Groupco's Jason

Jason Burgess has just been appointed Business Development Manager for independent hardware distributor Groupco, specifically to work with local authorities and housing associations - a market sector where the company sees great potential.

His main objective is to develop new business opportunities with specifiers in the public sector across the south east of England, and then to ensure the continued development of these relationships in the future.

Jason is delighted with the reception he has already received from existing and potential customers. He says, ‘The government's ongoing Decent Homes programme means that the public sector is particularly vibrant at this time, with many local authorities on the verge of large scale programmes and stock transfers.’

New and existing clients can benefit from Groupco's near 40-year association with Carl Fuhr, and its Multisafe range alongside many other long-term partnerships including Hoppe, Iseo, Maco, Roto, Winlock and more recently, Peder Nielsen's UNI System. The company offers a UK-wide service from its two ISO 9001-registered distribution centres at Peterborough and Cumbernauld, with 24-hour delivery on most products.

Jason says, ‘I am aiming to create and develop a greater awareness of Groupco as a experienced supplier of bespoke hardware packages to the public sector market within London and the surrounding areas. We can help specifiers by coming up with cost effective long-term solutions and already have a sound track record with many local authorities and housing associations across the UK.’

Sash UK Defies Industry Trends with the Recruitment of a New Sales Force

Sash UK is bolstering its current sales team with the addition of five new sales representatives in an industry climate where most companies are finding it necessary to downsize.

As other businesses continue to weather the storm of an industry in apparent decline, Sash UK's commercial business increases consistently year on year. It is with the appointment of two commercial sales and contracts managers, John Kelly for Scotland and Richard Steel for the South, that the company is looking to maintain this positive trend.

Currently Sash's commercial work is concentrated mainly in the North of the UK. However, there is massive potential in the social housing sector that remains untapped in the South of England and Scotland. Sash says that it believes that its highly regarded and well-established commercial division will offer the solutions that housing associations in these areas are looking for. With a track record of consistently achieving 93% and over on resident satisfaction questionnaires for every job, Brian Oxley, Commercial Director at Sash is confident that the evidence will speak for itself. His aim... ‘To continually be seen as the main player in this segment of the market’.

And although Sash trade sales has felt the 'pinch' in recent months, the company has made a premeditated strike to capitalise on the opportunities the changing market has to offer. Since being appointed UK Sales manager earlier this year, Greg Kane quickly recruited three new Business Development Advisors, Andy McPhee for the North, Gary Brant for the Midlands and Kelvin Mercer for the South. Their remit is to strengthen Sash's national presence by better serving their current customer base and bringing on new accounts.

Of their appointment to Sash the new recruits commented on how impressed they were with the company ethos, the headquarters, factory facilities and the friendly welcome they received from all staff. Having spent the past few weeks becoming familiar with their new surroundings and meeting with their customers, the new sales team is now fully operational and will be happy to take your call.

New Specification Manager Southeast Appointed

Colin Grundon has joined the Maco sales team as Specification Manager South East. Colin brings a wealth of business and management experience with him which will benefit Maco customers.

He originally trained as a Marine Civil Engineer and was involved in the creation of a company supplying general maintenance staff to that industry. He moved into the glazing industry through the architectural aluminium route, establishing a window and curtain walling manufacturing company in the Middle East. In this company he carried out multi-million pound contracts utilising in-house designed and manufactured extrusions. In the process of the disturbances in the region the company was blown up and Colin returned to the UK.

He returned to England as Operations and Production Manager for FAS (Fabricated Aluminium Services) later becoming General Manager where he was responsible for remodelling and streamlining the company’s production process more effectively achieving output targets.

Then head-hunted by Pallot Glass in Jersey, he set up the company’s UK base in Rochester where he was again involved in the manufacture of structural glazing, acoustic windows and curtain walling in a very successful operation. He then joined Anglia and spent ten years developing its technical sales being responsible for contract management on commercial projects. It is from there that he has moved to Maco.

Colin finds time for hobbies such as sailing – both competitive and leisure; he enjoys designing and building gardens and will take you on in a game of croquet. A first for Maco, he is also a registered publican having owned a pub for a short while.
