Dr Charles King joins P2i as Operations Director

P2i Limited, the nanoscale enhancer of products using its proprietary cold plasma deposition technology, has announced the appointment of Dr Charles King as Operations Director with immediate effect. Dr King has a distinguished background in advanced electronic materials development and manufacturing in the semiconductor, packaging and sensor industries. 

Commenting on Dr King’s appointment, P2i’s Chairman Graham Hine said:

'We are delighted to have Charles join the senior management team to lead the expansion of our production and process development facilities.

'He is a very timely addition to our team, coming just prior to the company moving to its new, state-of-the-art site near Oxford in the New Year, a move which will enable us to respond to the growing demand for our technology and expertise.

New Appointments at Selecta

Selecta Systems, the independent extruder of PVC-u window systems, is marking another period of successful trading with a string of appointments.

The Birmingham-based company has appointed Russ Gaukroger as its business development manager covering Yorkshire and the North West, plus two new drivers and two new technicians, in a move to further develop the business in line with the company's objectives.

Russ, who has more than 14 years' experience in both sales and the window industry, joins Selecta from Maco Door and Window Hardware. He will be responsible for maintaining existing accounts and developing new opportunities in his region which extends from South Yorkshire through the whole of the North West.

Commenting on the appointments, Mark Richmond, Selecta's sales and marketing director, said: ‘We are delighted to appoint such high calibre people at a pivotal time in the business. Despite a very unsettled market, Selecta has traded well and these appointments underline our success to date. Celuform Appoints McEvoy Sales Director

Pat McEvoy is the new Sales Director at Celuform, the PVC-ue roofline and cladding specialist. Appointed General Manager at Vekatrim only a few months ago, McEvoy will have full responsibility for sales of both brands.

Previously, he was Sales Director of the Baxi Fires Division and Director of Sales - Trade at Valor Heating. His career also includes nine years at Lucas Industries. McEvoy was brought in to oversee the transition following Celuform's purchase of Vekatrim from Veka plc earlier this year.

‘Responsibility for two great brands gives us a fantastic opportunity to ensure we secure growth in all market sectors,’ McEvoy said. ‘However, we will use the strengths of both to market them individually.’

Neilson Back at the Helm

Kestrel-BCE Ltd is now part of the Latium Group of companies and has a new Managing Director, Paul Neilson who has returned to the company from a three-year spell working elsewhere in the Building Products market.

Says Paul ‘It's great to be back! The problems Kestrel and BCE went through in 2002 and 2003 with the various factory and warehouse moves are now well behind us. We're now back to industry leading service levels and we've always had the best design and range of products.

Kevin Warner Heads up Specialist Products at Shepley

Trade fabricator Shepley Windows has recruited Kevin Warner, former Sales Director of Deceuninck-Status, to head up its Specialist Products Division.

Commenting on his appointment Warner said:

New Appointment at Glazerite

Network Veka trade fabricator, Glazerite Windows has strengthened its management team with the appointment of an experienced industry man, Chris Reeks as Sales and Marketing Manager.

Having worked directly within the trade sales industry for nearly two decades coupled with an effective marketing talent, Chris brings with him a wealth of valuable experience and in-depth industry knowledge.

In his appointment Chris will be responsible for developing sales opportunities for the full range of products available within the Glazerite portfolio. This includes casement windows, vertical sliders, complete conservatories, composite doors and patio doors. Chris will also be pivotal in the introduction of the company's new sculptured 70mm window which is being launched during February 2006.

Andy Kay Joins Maco as North West Sales Manager

Maco has welcomed Andrew Kay to the sales team where he assumes responsibility for the North West Sales Region.

Andrew joined the hardware industry as a tele-sales operator working at WMS (Avocet) and soon gained promotion to Senior Telesales. Within 18 months of his joining the company he was promoted to Northern Team Sales Trainer and subsequently Technical Trainer.

In this role he was involved in the product and sales training of the staff, from the induction stage through to advanced telesales.

Part of his responsibility also included product development and product launches. In addition to this role, his duties included operating the Hardware Help Desk handling both customer enquiries and internal and external sales.

With this background he joined Mila as an Area Sales Manager in the north west where he stayed for four years. He then moved to Systems Hardware as North East Area Manager from which he now joins Maco.

With his background in the industry Maco is confident that he will play an enthusiastic part in Maco's growth.


GAP's Mark Simm Moves Next Door to Rockdoor

Mark Simm, one of the founder members of GAP, the roofline stockist, has joined GAP's sister company Rockdoor, the manufacturer of high quality composite doors, as Sales Director.

Simon Bird, joint Managing Director of GAP and Rockdoor, explains the move.

‘Our culture at GAP is highly customer focussed - something that is going to be critical for Rockdoor as the company prepares to enter an amibitious growth phase. Mark is going to play a key role in taking the next generation of composite doors to the mass market.

'We'll miss him at GAP but he is only next door!’

Rockdoor was created in 1997 when GAP found itself unable to source sufficient composite doors of adequate quality.

With a new highly automated factory and the largest capacity in the UK - some 50% more than its nearest competitor - Rockdoor is planning to take the retail market by storm.

New Operations Director for Celuform

Andy Jarrett is the new operations Director at Kent-based Celuform, best known for its range of PVC-ue roofline and cladding products.

Andy, who has worked at the company for 25 years said, ‘I am thrilled with the appointment and am looking forward to having an even greater input into the company. I have been here for a long time and have seen many changes - however Celuform's commitment to quality, branding and operational strength has been consistent and that's why the company is so successful.’

In his new role, Andy will be responsible for all areas of the manufacturing operation including engineering, development, purchasing, planning, and distribution, with about 100 people on his team.

Andy began life at Celuform as an apprentice, working his way through the many different departments over the years. Outside work Andy is a musician, and enjoys winter sports. He is married and was born and brought up in Kent were he still lives.

Ged Ferris marketing manager added: ‘I look forward to continuing to work with Andy on the manufacturing and operational challenges that lie ahead with the merger of the Vekatrim business to Celuform and the additional opportunities that are offered with the recent acquisition by Latium of Heywood Williams Plastics.’

Masco Corporation Announces Management Appointment

Masco Corporation has announced that Clay Kiefaber, 50, has been appointed Group President of the Architectural Coatings and Windows Group.

Kiefaber joined Merillat in 1989 and has been Group Vice President for Masco's Builder Cabinet Group since 2004. In his new role, he will assume responsibility for Behr, Masterchem, Milgard Manufacturing, Watkins and the U.K. Window Group. He assumes many of Masco Group President Chuck Dowd's responsibilities, as Dowd moves toward retirement in 2006. Kiefaber will report to Masco President and Chief Operating Officer Alan Barry.

Kiefaber holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Miami of Ohio and a master's of business administration degree from the University of Colorado.

'One of our key goals is setting up the growth of the next generation of management,' said Alan Barry. 'I know that Clay will play a key role in our future success.'

Solvitol Recruits Leese to Manage Nilco Division

Solvitol Limited, a manufacturer and supplier of aerosols and chemicals has recruited Nick Leese to head up its Nilco Division.

Leese joins Solvitol from Churchill China, where he was the National Account Director and responsible for looking after numerous accounts held with a variety of retail outlets. His experience in the houseware industry alone totals 20 years.

As the new general manager of the Nilco Division and the associated brands that come under the Nilco umbrella which includes Planet Earth, where he will work closely with Michael Gubbins and Buddy as well as Nilco.

Leese will be responsible for supporting and increasing the well-established cash and carry and wholesale distribution base of the Solvitol brand and increasing the presence of Planet Earth and Buddy in the market place.

Leese said: 'My focus will be on increasing brand penetration across the board, while also striving to get Planet Earth products into major retails and pharmaceutical outlets throughout the UK. Planet Earth will continue to support R.A.F.T (a charitable trust that donates monies to different environmental projects around the country).'
