Sapphire gets a Kick out of Boxing Sponsorship

Newton Abbot’s Sapphire Window Systems put its clout behind the women’s kick boxing world title fight.

The Network Veka fabricator and installer sponsored the top of the bill bout between Paignton’s Karen ‘nine millimetre’ Ousy and Trisha ‘TNT’ Hill from the USA. It was local girl Karen who came out victorious, putting three world titles under her belt.

There were 11 fights in total, with the British and South West belts also up for grabs at the ERC Centre, in Torquay. More than 1,000 fans turned up for the events, showing how popular the sport has become.

‘This is the third time we’ve sponsored a kick boxing event,’ says Sapphire’s Managing Director Dave Darby. ‘They have always been well attended and we will certainly think about doing it again.’

Sapphire used Veka’s Little Rig exhibition vehicle at the event, and was helped on the day by Veka’s Andy Goodman and Network Veka’s Peter Ward.

Lister Trade Frames Enters the Uzone

Lister Trade Frames Ltd of Stoke on Trent recently hosted the Uzone Roadshow. Uzone is the name of the new conservatory roofing system from Ultraframe which slashes installation times by half, and we all know that ‘time is money’.

Over 25 companies attended on the day and the response was extremely positive. So positive in fact, that 12 roofs were sold on the day. Listers business development managers also praised the roadshow and said they found the presentation informative and it opened a whole new area of sales potentials, particularly as prices start below £850.

Phil Warren, Sales Director of Lister Trade Frames commented 'It was a great day. We were overwhelmed by the customer interest in this new product and they were all impressed by the presentation and the product. We were amazed to take 12 orders for the Uzone roof on the day! But even more important has been the customers enthusiasm when they have fitted their first roof, it’s an amazing new product.'

Hull Bowling Team gets a Hallmark Boost

Hallmark employee and keen bowler Trevor Bailey’s Hull based ten pin bowling team has received a helping hand from the company in its bid to top the city league. The team – known as the Hallmark Hawks – has received sponsorship from Hallmark Group that allows them to compete in style with distinctive team shirts.

Trevor, who has worked for door panel, GRP and laminated products manufacturer Hallmark Group for seven years, plays with his team up to twice weekly at AMF Bowling Hull in Sutton Fields Industrial Estate. The team has already established a winning streak, finishing top of the Hull league two years ago, and is currently leading the league table for this year’s tournament above 17 other teams. The Hallmark Hawks boast a wide range of bowling averages, with Trevor himself having achieved an impressive recent score of 208, and the team is also planning to compete in several national tournaments later this year, including the British Open Championship in September.

Trevor is looking forward to seeing what the team can achieve:
‘A lot of people who compete do take it rather seriously - we do it because it’s great fun, but doing well is a fantastic bonus. It’s a good feeling being on the way to topping the league again this year, and we’ll be proud to wear our new shirts. Hallmark is a very sociable company and I’m pleased that people here have taken an active interest in supporting us outside of work as well.’

Top of the League Installation for Soccer Star

Salisbury based Quantal Approved Installer Castlegate Windows has installed a conservatory for soccer hero, Nick Holmes, who played for Southampton Football Club when they won the FA Cup in 1976.

The externally powder coated aluminium roof of the 5-bay Victorian style conservatory is glazed with 25 mm heatguard polycarbonate, to ensure a comfortable living environment all year round.

Established four years ago by Managing Director Neville Beal, Castlegate is very much a family business, installing windows, doors and conservatories to trade customers right across central southern England.

The company recently moved to larger premises to cope with an increased volume of work. Neville explains, ‘I put the success of our business down to the fact that we always put our customers first, offering a complete turnkey conservatory package, from the initial plans right through to completion of the project.

‘We offer top quality materials and ensure excellent workmanship by using our own teams of installers. Our customers prefer the unique Quantal roof for its pleasing traditional styling, its strength and its durability.’

Nick, who made over 500 professional appearances for the Saints, is now manager of Salisbury City Football Club, that plays in the Dr Martins Southern League. Neville is also a director of the Wiltshire team.

‘As a keen football fan, I was delighted to have the opportunity to mix business with pleasure, and install the conservatory for Nick. We recently built an unusual shaped one for Salisbury City talent scout, Graham Daish,’ concludes Neville.

Synseal customer, Waterford Windows, recently put the Shield Conservatory to the ultimate test when they fabricated and installed a 6x3.5m Edwardian conservatory for the famous newspaper critic Gary Bushell.

'It took 10 weeks from the time we received the enquiry to the time the job was completed,'explains Colin Woodward, Partner of Waterford Windows. 'Gary was so impressed he wrote us a letter to say thank you.'

The letter read ‘thanks for a job well done. I’d recommend Waterford Windows to anyone for product, service and price.’ 'We knew the Synseal conservatory was good,' continues Colin, 'but to get an endorsement from such a critical person, is praise indeed!

They also back up a good product with complete and reliable deliveries that enable us to keep to our schedules and provide our customers what they want, when they want it.'

New Sales Aid Makes A Strong Case for Whiteline

The Whiteline Group, the South East specialist trade fabricator of PVCu windows and doors, has introduced a series of new sales presentation cases featuring samples of the Goldline range of products. Launched as part of the company’s constant drive to help installers create a competitive edge and increase their sales effectiveness, the new cases have been specifically designed to meet the requirements of both glazed and unglazed customers.

Manufactured in strong but lightweight ABS, the cases come in three product colours - white, mahogany and golden oak – and support both the 70mm and 58mm product ranges.

The company researched the market before determining the precise content of the cases. As Peter Hand, Sales and Marketing Director said, ‘It’s all very well introducing new sales aids for our customers, but unless they reflect what the consumer needs to make an informed choice they would be falling short of their potential impact and effectiveness.’

Samples displayed in the cases include handles, hinges, a Bay Post assembly, 150mm cill with end cap, a framed trickle vent, corner sample and spacer bars.

On the Road with Versatile

'Exceptional design that offers a unique aesthetic appeal and outstanding ease of installation.’ That’s the consensus from installers who have been viewing the Versatile Roof System while it’s been out on the road recently.

Mike Griffths, who joined Versatile Limited as new business development manager earlier in the year commented, ‘The response we’ve received has been fantastic. There’s no doubt that the system provides a unique range of benefits and a substantial differentiation from our competitors.’

The design, which allows the beam to act as an integral gutter, not only saves considerable installation time, but also adds to the appearance of the finished product. With it’s GRP ridge and ring beam, the system provides structural integrity without compromise to aesthetics and is capable of producing an infinite variation of standard and bespoke conservatory designs.

As part of the Burles Group, Versatile collaborates with sister company, fabricator Modplan Limited, to offer a full conservatory package, as well as stand alone roof kits. A recent event held in the Veka Big Rig at Castle Combe racing circuit, gave visitors the opportunity to see the benefits of product choice and outstanding service that the two companies offer, both singularly and together, and how their working practices offer total reassurance.

Versatile director, Kevin Barnard, considers that ‘seeing is believing’ and that’s why the Versatile team are currently undertaking a number of road shows across the country. ‘Installers are busy people and unless they can see the system first hand, it’s difficult to believe that the benefits we offer are not just hype.

‘Trials undertaken by Versatile’s design team, have compared installation times to competitor offerings and have proven that at least one whole day can be saved on site using the Versatile Roof System.

‘The benefits are not just aimed at the installer either’, concludes Kevin, ‘the neat, smooth finish and elegant profiles have massive consumer appeal and the roof is as simple to fabricate as it is to install!’

The Versatile roof system will be on display at various trade outlets across South Wales until the end of the year. Simply call 01495 247233 and ask for the road show venues and time slots.
