Pilkington Encourages Fabricators and Installers to get 'ProActiv™' with the World’s First Self-Cleaning Glass

As sales soar of Pilkington Activ™, the self-cleaning glass, Pilkington has launched Pilkington ProActiv™, a scheme designed to provide a range of marketing and technical support services and materials to help the trade at all levels to market and sell the product.

Pilkington ProActiv™ offers an on-line support service that will provide access to marketing support materials, which make it easy for the trade to learn about and promote Pilkington Activ™. In developing a range of materials and services Pilkington carried out research with 100 suppliers before finalising the details. In response to the research a full range of literature including consumer brochures, POS material, training materials, certificates of installation, advertisement blocks and much more will be available to order on-line. Back up from a dedicated technical advice team is also available through Pilkington ProActiv™.

The free Welcome Pack contains details of how to register along with a range of items, including an audio training CD, time-lapse video footage of the Pilkington Activ' process, samples of the consumer brochure and new installation certificate, a mousemat, technical and marketing advice sheets, and a range of other materials.

Registered companies will be called each quarter so that Pilkington can gather feedback, and to discuss how Pilkington can support their marketing activities and assist with sales growth. The Pilkington ProActiv™ scheme will act as a channel for companies to obtain information and guidance in addition to promotional items for Pilkington Activ™ self-cleaning glass. Also, by registering for Pilkington ProActiv™, companies will also be added to the list of Pilkington Activ' suppliers published on the website.

Pilkington Building Products' Marketing Director Matt Buckley believes that Pilkington ProActiv™ is unique in the glass industry: ‘I do not believe that there has ever been anything like Pilkington ProActiv™ before in the flat glass industry. We are continuing to back Pilkington Activ' with a great deal of resource, and as a result sales are well ahead of target and growing fast. In order to continue this growth we are providing this full support package to enable our customers to reach and convert their customers at every level.’

Added Buckley: ‘Pilkington Activ™ is proving to be an excellent sales closer for anyone prepared to learn about the product, and to market and sell it professionally. Pilkington ProActiv™ provides all that is required for anyone to participate in the success of Pilkington Activ™.’

Conservatory Roof Roadshow

Haydock-based Aztec Conservatory Roof Systems is executing a programme of roadshows.

At strategic venues, the company is setting up a presentation and fabrication area, demonstrating the key benefits of the system, and enabling potential customers to try their hand at fabricating and building it.

Aztec claims its premium quality system is designed in such a way to cut fabrication and build time by up to 30% on a standard roof, enabling a pro-rata increase in production capability and profit. Additionally, the company says that fitters prefer the Aztec system because of its simplicity and minimal number of components, and the installer finds time-consuming and costly ‘snagging’ virtually eliminated.

Explains Gordon Cooke, Aztec sales manager, ‘The industry is still growing so fast that people are so busy running their businesses on a day to day basis, they don’t have the time to take out to look at developments and new suppliers in the market. We are making it easy for them, by taking our developments to them: they only need allocate an hour or so to investigate a way of increasing their bottom line by potentially 30%!’

The Aztec roof uses only 10 core components. Aztec Conservatory Roof Systems has evolved its product range to create roof systems which offer a spanning capability of up to 4.5m on the standard range and flexibility in design and glazing options.

Its ridge can accommodate all common formats of glazing-16mm, 25, and 35mm. A separate gazebo ridge uses natural forces for strength and integrity, to create free-standing conservatory-style buildings, or to overcome problems where conventional formats would create asymmetrical designs. The system can also be fabricated to offer dual pitched, lean-to, gable end and dormer-style conservatories.

Independent tests showed the Aztec system would withstand the worst weather experienced in the UK, with wind loadings of up to 200 pascals. Its design also means it is proven to be weather resistant, with minimal risk of rain penetration.

Full details of roadshow venues for 2004 are available from Aztec.

Giles Hayhurst, Windowlink's Managing Director, says, ‘It is great to see the scooter won by an visitor from outside the obvious circle of people we usually see at exhibitions, and it has gone to someone who will clearly get a great deal of enjoyment from it.’

Eastwood Town Celebrates Treble Success

Eurocell sponsored Eastwood town has added further silverware to the Club’s already impressive trophy cabinet. As well as winning the league cup, Eastwood has collected the Nottinghamshire Senior Cup and gained all-important promotion to the Unibond First Division.

‘Well what can I say, a fantastic season, I came here and the club was in a mess, now we have won both cups and are moving up the leagues. The town is really buzzing after this my first season at the helm. Lets hope we can keep our stars here as well as adding to our already strong playing squad.’ Keith Smith, Chairman Eastwood Town F.C.

Adding to the achievements of the Club was its impressive victory in the Nottinghamshire Senior Cup, played at Notts County’s ground, Meadow Lane.
Playing Hucknall Town in the Final, Eastwood were massive underdogs, due to the fact that Hucknall had just won promotion to the Conference as Unibond Premier League Champions by a country mile. A goal down early on Eastwood battled back and a wonder goal by Wael Nazha sealed the Club’s famous victory.
