Modplan
Ltd: Setting the Standard for After-Sales Care
Manufacturer
of Veka PVC-u profiles, Modplan Ltd,
has published a new consumer-focused literature suite. The literature
suite, which will be offered to all new and existing trade clients, is
designed to help them leverage further sales by providing them with a
folder of information they can customise and present to consumers.
The
folder is carefully designed so that it can be personalised by Modplan's
clients. This will offer them the opportunity to market their own installation
services in a high quality format, thereby generating future sales leads.
The folder contains a set of product sheets aimed at the consumer. Leaflets
on Modplan's windows, doors, conservatories and park homes as well as
a team product sheet make up the information on Modplan's portfolio.
As well as focusing on product, the folder also emphasises Modplan's approach
and customer service. The folder is stylishly designed in Modplan's new
contemporary corporate style, which will further enhance the suite's stylish,
professional look.
The consumer-focused bespoke folder is one of two new suites published
by Modplan this Autumn. The company says that the new literature suite
underpins its continuous drive to boost its reputation as a high quality
manufacturer and supplier with customer service to match.

Warm
Embrace for Part L Approved Document
Part
L in England and Wales is changing and the new provisional Approved Documents
were published on 13th September. While they contain some fundamental
changes, they maintain the status quo for the window industry with one
significant difference; the statutory recognition of Window Energy Ratings
(WERs), a move applauded by Pilkington Building
Products - UK.
The
Approved Document will be welcomed by those who wish to see a continuation
of current window specification and practice. For PVC-U and timber replacement
windows, the current U value of 2.0 continues to be acceptable, whereas
the adoption of Window Energy Ratings (WERs) is a positive move.
A replacement window achieving band E is acceptable, although extensions
are required to reach a slightly higher standard, where a band D window
is specified.
For new buildings, designers and builders will achieve compliance by calculating
the total carbon emissions of the proposed building. There will be considerable
freedom in the specification of individual components as long as the overall
emissions target is met.
Current popular glazing specifications will therefore continue to be satisfactory
and windows containing Pilkington K Glass will enable buildings to meet
the anticipated target. Irrespective of the target, no window in a new
dwelling will be allowed to have a U value greater than 2.2, which means
that non low E double glazing will become a thing of the past.
Rick Wilberforce, market development manager - Europe, at Pilkington comments:
'Low E glass will, in effect, be obligatory for all new build and replacement
windows at a level that can be fulfilled by hard coat products such as
Pilkington K Glass for at least 5 years. For many in the industry it will
be 'carry on as normal'.'

Part L' by e-mailing pilkington@respond.uk.com
