Bohle Brings Out Bumper Catalogue

Bohle’s Glass and Glazier Catalogue 2004-05 has been released in the UK and is packed with hundreds of new products in addition to the large existing range. The ‘main’ catalogue, as it’s often referred to, now has 618 pages and contains full colour pictures, detailed descriptions and prices for every item.

Almost 20,000 different products are featured, which Bohle says makes it the country’s largest specialist tools supplier for the glass and glazing industry.

Among the new products in this latest edition are Bohle’s recently launched sandblasting machines, new glass pliers, several additions to the company’s UV Bonding and glass hardware collection, more shower door hinges than ever before, plus all the latest information on developments with Ritec’s award-winning ClearShield system.

Bohle publishes prices, quantity discounts and technical drawings, for those products that require them, side by side. Commenting on the format, Gary Dean, Bohle UK’s Managing Director, says, ‘Our primary aim is to be clear and open with our customers and to present our comprehensive range, prices and product details in a user-friendly format. You can see a product and what it costs at a glance because we believe it’s more important to make it easy for the customer than to be concerned about a competitor knowing our prices. And in any case, we’re confident that we won’t be beaten on price for the same quality product.’

With the publication of the 2004-05 Catalogue, Bohle has met a number of key commitments which it made to the market when it launched its new catalogue concept last year. ‘We said we would bring out a new edition every year, and we promised to add more products each time and ensure even better prices. Once again we’ve delivered on these promises‘ Gary says.

Over 3,500 Bohle customers will automatically receive the new catalogue in the next few weeks. Based on previous experience, demand for extra copies plus requests for copies from new customers is expected to be high. ‘So contact us on 0800 61 61 51 to order your copy now,’ recommends Gary.

Richard Duncan, Groupco’s Managing Director, comments, ‘We have concentrated on making our 2004 catalogue more user-friendly so that it’s easier to locate individual product pages and the ability to print the pdfs is a very useful option.’

The updated version follows on from the success of the first CD catalogue released in June 2003 and is readily available to Groupco’s existing customer base, specifiers and anyone who requests a copy via the web, fax or phone.

‘We are confident that the reaction to the new CD will be good, even from those who may have preferred a printed catalogue in the past,’ says Richard.
‘As well as updating all the information, we have addressed the one major concern some customers had about the first CD – ease of navigation.’

UK Steel Glazing Supplier Publishes New Brochure

A UK steel glazing specialist, with a growing international customer base, has brought its expertise in curtain walling and roof glazing systems together in one brochure.

Wright Style Limited
, based in Devizes, Wiltshire, supplies external steel glazing systems, as well as those for internal glazed screens, partitions and doors.

The firm has enjoyed growth in the UK and Europe, the Middle East, Far East and Asia through a network of licensed fabricators, who assemble and install Wright Style’s systems locally.

The company says that the combination of international reach and local service reflects the fact that working with today’s advanced steel systems are now as easy as fabricating with aluminium – but with significant advantages in terms of strength, flexibility and aesthetics.

‘As a supply-only firm, our task is to work in partnership with our local fabricators, and this new brochure brings together, in one informative guide, what our advanced systems can achieve,’ said Denis Wright, M.D of Wright Style.

In support of its fabricator network, Wright Style has brought together all its steel curtain wall and roof glazing systems into one comprehensive sales brochure, outlining the general advantages of steel – with the particular advantages associated with a Wright Style system.

These include the ability to design and build larger free spans of glass – still incorporating high-specification fire resistance – or with very high levels of blast resistance to meet the threats posed by today’s uncertain world.

The new brochure outlines the curtain wall and roof glazing systems that Wright Style currently manufacture, all designed to give architects new options to incorporate glass into their designs.

These include the Davex Curtain Wall System that actually allows customers to specify an individual design to be punched or laser cut into the supporting profiles – for example, a corporate logo. The Wright Style range also includes the SR Curtain Walling System, which is suitable for large glass expanses, or providing up to 120 minutes of integrity and passive fire protection, and the SG Curtain Walling System that eliminates the need for external pressure plates and capping profiles – providing yet another aesthetic option.

Wright Style says that independent test analysis in the UK has successfully proven that the Wright Style SR system, utilising either steel or stainless steel framing, provides life-saving protection from large explosive detonations within close proximity of the façade.

The SR system is designed to withstand the blast pressure, whilst still retaining the glass within the framing profiles, and therefore preventing the type of injuries associated with flying glass.

Because of their safety, aesthetics and ease of installation, Wright Style systems are increasingly being specified across the UK and Europe, and the Middle- and Far East, with specific contracts nearing completion from Leeds to Hong Kong and from Singapore to the United Arab Emirates.

‘More and more architects are realising that steel glazing systems provide a significant aesthetic advantage over aluminium, but with greatly-enhanced features such as fire safety. That combination of strength, safety and good looks has allowed us to expand the Wright Style brand into a number of key markets internationally through our growing network of approved fabricators,’ said Denis Wright.

Free Information about 12,000 Companies for Window Industry Marketing Plans

New Data Sheets, freely available from Windowbase, give the numbers of Fabricators and Installers currently active in the UK and suggest ways of contacting them.

‘Data Sheets 1, 2 and 3 – provide information on Fabricators, Installers and all Companies supplying Windows, Doors and Conservatories in the UK – with recommendations on reaching them;’ says Mike Davis. ‘We have had a rush of people ensuring that all likely companies know of their Glassex activities, and use our data for mailing or tele-canvassing. Almost all started by reading these data sheets.’

The data sheets clarify the different information that is available from Windowbase on each company, and also give the number of fabricators and installers – over 11,100 at the beginning of 2004 – using each frame material: PVCu, Wood, Aluminium. (To reach steel window companies, contact Mike personally)

While the new Data Sheets give the UK numbers at the beginning of 2004, Mike points out that http://www.winbase.co.uk also gives the numbers in each UK region, and does the sums too. ‘Just click on the regions in which you are interested, and you’ll see the totalled number of, for instance, wood window & conservatory makers, or just PVCu installers. There’s no excuse for your marketing plan have ‘guesstimated’ numbers, when they are available on our web site.’

Does it give numbers of all the UK companies? ‘Not quite!’ says Mike, ‘At any one time there are around a thousand small installers or joiners who are not available to answer our questions. None are included in our data unless we have verified the information with them, so we are constantly chasing these companies.
Companies are also regularly disappearing. Our best estimate is that there are some 12,000 window, door and conservatory fabricators or installers currently active in the UK. If we cannot pin them all down, in spite of our efforts, you certainly don’t want your sales force wasting their time chasing the more elusive ones.’

• Data Sheet 1: How To Make Sales to Fabricators
• Data Sheet 2: How To Make Sales to Installers
• Data Sheet 3: How To Make Sales to the UK Window & Conservatory Industry

… are all available on request from Windowbase, email mailto:info@winbase.co.uk, or fax +44 (0) 1706 759898, giving your name, company and address, and a copy will be sent to you.

Or log onto http://www.winbase.co.uk for detailed information by region

TruSeal Offers Data Sheet for New Polyisobutylene Sealant

TruSeal Technologies, Inc., a world leader in flexible spacer systems for insulating glass (IG), has released a product data sheet for EdgeThermTM PIB-H1, a high viscosity, high strength, 100 percent solids sealant system. A polyisobutylene (PIB) sealant, PIB-H1 is the second rollout in the EdgeTherm line of IG sealants.

EdgeTherm PIB-H1 is based on a PIB polymer formulated to impart reinforcement, resist degradation from ultraviolet light and provide low moisture permeability. With its high viscosity formula, PIB-H1 resists shearing in large, heavy lites of glass and retains flexibility through a wide temperature range to compensate for thennal movement of IG units.

PIB-H1 is used as the pnmary seal on IG units while providing the main moisture vapour seal between the glass and metal spacer. It must be used with a secondary seal designed to provide structural strength. The product's properties provide a low moisture vapour transmission rate, consistent quality and good adhesion to glass and metal through a wide temperature range.

Point of Sale Support from Roto

Hardware manufacturer, Roto Frank, has produced a range of point of sale material to support fabricators and installers in the promotion of the company’s twin cam security locking system for windows (TSL).

The material includes full colour posters and leaflets together with co-ordinating literature dispensers for display in showrooms. Two types of poster are available, each reflecting the style and content of the leaflet, which is presented under the ‘Why choose TSL?’ theme. The literature features a specially commissioned ‘burgled room’ photograph on the front cover, followed inside by details on TSL’s excellent security performance, durability and quality.

All of the information has been specifically designed to appeal to the home owner, with lifestyle photography depicting safety and security and technical details kept to a minimum.

Adrian Vicker, sales director at Roto, comments, ‘This is the first time we have produced information for the end user and it reflects our confidence in TSL’s performance and market potential. We also know that the promotional material will be very much appreciated by the installer as it will provide additional reasons for selecting windows fitted with TSL’s high security features.

‘TSL is already proving popular with many fabricators and we believe that, with its exceptional performance and easy fitting, it is only a mater of time before TSL replaces the shootbolt as the installer’s and home owner’s automatic choice for providing high security on windows.’

The new point of sale material can be obtained direct from Roto, by calling Phil Smith on 01788 558619.
