Jotika Golf Day 2003

Alternative Win for The 4th annual Jotika Golf Day

Now a firm fixture in the Glazing industry events calendar, The 4th annual Jotika Golf Day was held last Friday, 13th June – a date that offered a great excuse for having a bad round! Despite which, the overall standard of play was excellent, even from the novices, and there were some very close scores.

Darren Pratt won with a 43, while the Winning Team was CDM

Overall Winner was Darren Pratt of Alternative Windows with a Stableford score of 43, and who also came first in the 0-18 Handicap. The 19-28 Handicap was won by Anita Day of AG Glass with a score of 40.

The Winning Team was CDM, which comprised brothers Jim and Dave Warburton, Jim Jellicoe of Promac, and Andy Priestly of Glass & Glazing Products. The Brownhills Glass team came in 2nd with a score of 84, and snapping at their heels in 3rd place was Alternative Windows with 83.

Other prizes were:
Nearest the Pin, won by Andy Priestly of Glass & Glazing Products; Longest Drive was Stephen Holden of HW Glass; Most Improved golfer was Jerry Hawthorne of Darby Glass; Best Excuse of the Day (we kept the award despite the date!) was from Phil Manley, also of Darby Glass, who 'didn’t know there was any water there'.

Best Gross Score was Jim Jellicoe of Promac, who we think is going to be the one to watch at Mike Grey’s Fun Charity Golf Day held in July, as Jim says he is now going for the ‘hat trick’ of winning the three major industry golf tournaments in a row.

Winner of this year’s Media Challenge trophy, sponsored by Austen Harlow Flitter PR for the best scoring Glass Industry Media player, was The Glazine’s own Norman Setra with an excellent score of 33 that saw off the competition (pictured left).

The event also raised over two hundred Pounds for the Air Ambulance service, which was raised by taking a £5 bet from each player at the 6th hole to see if they could get on to the green in one. We’re pleased to say that every player that did achieve the feat, immediately returned their 'stake' to this worthy cause.

The scores were compiled by the specially written piece of Jotika software that enables Stableford computations to be made as easily and as rapidly as individual scores are entered in to the laptop computer from the player’s scorecard. Jotika will be pleased to give this software away completely free of charge to any industry golf tournament provided there is a benefit to charity from the occasion
