Premdor Unveils 'First' in Door Electronics for Domestic Market

Premdor revealed at Interbuild what it believes is a first for a mainstream manufacturer - a remote control system for opening doors designed for use in the domestic housing market.

The device is based around similar mechanisms that typically feature in public buildings to control access and protect sensitive or security areas. It combines a box fitted to the doorframe, which is activated by a small remote control.

Another concept on show from Premdor was an automatic venetian blind contained within a door glazing unit. The full blind is designed for use where additional privacy is required.

Premdor also displayed innovations and improvements across its product range. Among the highlights were additions to its Stormproof Secure doorsets certified to Secured By Design standards, more choices in hardwood feature doors including the Superior range, product enhancements to satisfy Part L regulations, new styles in Alpha 24 windows and cubicle and washroom systems.

Premdor UK Ltd
Hall 4, Stand D141

Premdor, the UK manufacturer of doors and windows will be showing a number of innovations and improvements to be introduced to it's product ranges.

'Among the highiights will be a PVCu frame option now available with the extensive Stormproof Secure range of doorsets - already the widest available to house builders, developers and specifiers from any manufacturer in the UK joinery industry.' says the company.

'Premdor was the first manufacturer to launch a complete range of timber, steel and fibreglass doorsets and timber windows independently certified to meet the stringent Secured By Design (SBD) standards, and continues to offer products that meet thesecurity standards demanded by the housing market.'

Secured By Design is the UK standard recognised and recommended by the Police as a 'preferred specification' for security doors and windows, an initiative that has been welcomed by architects, developers and planners as an important contribution to the development of crime prevention in building design and build.

Premdor is encouraging contractors and developers to install its SBD doors and windows as an 'added value' selling point for any new property after research showed that properties installed with Secured By Design doors and windows were less prone to crime.

'Premdor's comprehensive Stormproof Secure range now includes the widest choice of secure doorset designs in the industry, and the first complete range of security joinery products available in the UK.' the company claims.

Each product has achieved PAS 23 and PAS 24 (for doorsets) and BS7950 (for windows) certification to perfoFm at the highest recognised level of domestic security, and the company continues to invest significantly in product improvements with the launch of a new addition to the range.

The new doorset variant is suitable for both new build and refurbishment projects. Fully certified by an independent UKAS accredited test house, the new PVCu frame offers a low maintenance package when specified with Premdor's range of fibreglass doors.

To support the range, Premdor has produced detailed product literature. A PC CDRom and video are also available which illustrate the doorset and window products' security features as well as summarising the rigorous independent testing procedures that each product has undergone.

New Products

Premdor plans to reveal what it believes is a first for a mainstream manufacturer - a new concept for a remote control system to open doors, designed for use in the domestic housing market.

The device is based around similar mechanisms that typically feature in public buildings to control access and protect sensitive or security areas. It combines a box fitted to the doorframe, which is activated by a small remote control. lnitially it will be for use on external doors only.

Another concept in door electronics on show from Premdor will be an electric venetian blind. The full height blind is designed for use on doors with double glazing units for exteriors.

Premdor considers the lnterbuild exhibition to be an excellent opportunity to speak face to face with both existing and potential customers.

On the Premdor stand there will be a number live demonstrations each day of its Speed Set system, which the company claims has created a new benchmark for installation ready doorsets. Speed Sets can be installed without special joinery sklls in a quarter of the time it takes for a traditional installation, so saving labour costs and reducing build times.

Speed Set is suited to both domestic and commercial volume new build. The system arrives on site as a complete pre-assembled unit, including architraves, with the selected door from Premdor's interior door range pre-hung, together with factory fitted door latches or locks.

A regional network of accredited Speed Set fabricators ensures local delivery to the
site on a 'just in time' basis, which gives builders and developers important benefits. These include minimising the wastage often caused by damage or theft, maximising on-site storage space and installation after plastering to reduce the possibility of moisture damage.
