Art Glass on Show at Interbuild 2002
Andersen Windows and Patio Doors presented a special display of inspirational
Art Glass designs by the architect Frank Lloyd Wright at Interbuild
2002.
The
Collection included four of the architect's original designs: 'Colonnade',
'Praire Rhythm, 'Wichita' and 'Eucalyptus' which bring the subtle and
changing quality of light into buildings.
Andersen's Frank Lloyd Wright Art Glass Series remains true to the architect's
original designs and is manufactured using a combination of traditional
craftsmanship and modern technology.
The Art Glass panels are constructed using a special zinc alloy for
added rigidity, with each individual piece of glass sealed into cames
with silicone. A patina finish darkens the metal cames, giving them
a distinctive and naturally aged appearance.
The geometric nature of the designs makes them compatible with a wide
range of Andersen window and patio door combinations.
The extent of the Andersen range - over 200,000 different shapes, sizes
and colours of windows and patio doors available as standard - allows
immense scope to the architect and builder to create virtually any window
combination.
The construction of Andersen windows and patio doors claims to be unique.
The wood structure is protected on the outside by the low maintenance
Perma-Shield system, which is available in four colours: white; Sandtone
(a neutral beige); and Terratone (an earth tone) and Forest Green. On
the inside the knot-free pine can be stained, varnished or painted to
taste.
Energy efficiency is achieved with Low E argon filled double glazing
supplied as
standard with U values as low as 1.4, which exceeds Part L of the Building
Regulations (Part J Scotland). Andersen windows come with full guarantees
(twenty years for the glazing and ten years for the window itself) and
with BBA certification.
In addition to the special Frank Lloyd Wright display, there was a selection
of the Andersen range on show including: the new casement, the 'Tilt-Wash'
sliding sash window, awnings, roof window, patio doors, as well as circles,
ovals, ellipticals, and the Flexiframe range, which allows any straight
edged window shape up to 5.58m2.
