Pilkington
will use its stand at this year's Glasstec, Dösseldorf to demonstrate
the company's ongoing commitment to the future of the glass industry
through a display of products and by bringing its global team of experts
in Technology, Engineering and Sales to the stand. Highlights for visitors
include:
The largest ever gathering of Pilkington commercial, engineering
and technical specialists from around the world
A world leader in glass innovation: £45 million annual
research and development budget

Pilkington Activ: the self-cleaning glass

With over 1000m2 of stand Pilkington will take the opportunity to demonstrate
its reach, in geographical terms, through the extent of its product
portfolio and in the expertise of its people.
Glasstec will provide a chance to meet principal technologists from
the Pilkington Technology Centre at Lathom in the UK, supported by commercial,
engineering and technical specialists from around the world. Visitors
are presented with an opportunity to have any query answered, no matter
how technical.
Pilkington remains committed to excellence not only in its product development,
through a £45 million investment each year in R & D, and also
through an extensive training programme for Pilkington people, customers
and glass specifiers from around the world. This is achieved through
a variety of courses for international industry personnel. The apprenticeship
scheme and the graduate-training scheme enable Pilkington to develop
the cream of a generation for the benefit of the Glass and Construction
industry.
Pilkington Activ, the dual action self-cleaning glass, demonstrates
that the company is a leader in glass innovation. Now available for
installation in homes throughout Europe and the USA, 2003 will see the
availability of Pilkington Activ for installation in commercial
buildings. A number of other product developments will be unveiled at
Glasstec.
In addition to glass solutions for buildings however, Pilkington has
enormous influence in other glass markets. One in three vehicles manufactured
around the globe is fitted with Pilkington glass, including the new
Citroen C3, which has one of the most complex-shaped windscreens ever
produced. For slightly higher altitudes and speeds Pilkington has also
been chosen to supply the canopy for the new US Joint Strike Fighter.
Pilkington's Glasstec stand will offer the opportunity to better appreciate
the impact the company has on the world's glass markets, and to learn
how the company supports its customers and specifiers.
