Pilkington Glasshouse Competition Winners
Hall 10 Stand No: A40

Winners of Pilkington design competition on show at Glasstec 2002 in Düsseldorf
glasstec 2002, from 28 October to 1 November 2002 in Düsseldorf, will spotlight the winners of the Glasshouse design competition for architecture students and young architects from all of Europe. The object of the competition, sponsored by Pilkington and Architecture Today, was to design a house for the 21st century. The prizes are worth a total of EUR 35,000.

The competition requires that the house demonstrate and exploit the architectural potential of glass. The main issues to be addressed are energy-saving and ecological impact. The materials available included fire protection, noise control, safety, and decoration glass. There were also structural glazing systems available for the design of glass facades. The contestants' designs were meant to demonstrate the full spectrum of glass applications in architecture.

Glasstec visitors are invited to visit Pilkington's stand, (Hall 10, Stand 40), to see the winning entries and runner-up for the European 'Glasshouse' competition.
