HomePro
Shoots From the HIPP
HomePro has launched - initially through its strategic partner the Britannia
Building Society - a new product that the company claims is set to generate
huge demand for home improvement work by potentially millions of consumers
and great business opportunities for professional tradespeople.
The new product - known as the Home lmprovement Protection Plan (HIPP)-
is an insurance-backed guarantee (IBG) giving homeowners confidence in
commissioning improvement works; and removing any psychological 'fear'
barriers to employing tradespeople to undertake projects in their homes.
The initiative is also being supported by a massive consumer TV and press
advertising drive from Britannia.
Many consumers are, at best, nervous about sourcing tradespeople for home
improvements because of doubts about encountering rogues. HomePro claim
HlPP will
lay those fears to rest for good. The HlPP will enable the consumer to:
protect any deposit payments up to the value of 25% of the contract; assist
in providing a new contractor in the case of a 'let down'; protect against
work being left unfinished; guarantee the quality of workmanship and materials;
and insure against increases in cost through changing contractor. The
plan also covers all the terms of the IBG in the event of a contractor
ceasing trading - and is fully transferable to subsequent dwelling owners.
Furthermore, the package and HomePro's Find-a-Pro service has now been
rolled out to over 190 Britannia Building Society branches nationwide.
HlPP and Find-a-Pro is also, of course, available to Britannia's 2 million
members through: http://www.britannia.co.uk.
Britannia is publicising HlPP and Find-a-Pro through a widespread consumer
advertising campaign in the late spring and early summer. The half-double-page
spread adverts - using the tag line Britannia can lend you the money,
find you a builder and a guarantee for the work - will run in over 20
consumer magazines and national newspapers. The TV campaign will mirror
that theme too. Titles on the schedule range from ldeal Home, Good Housekeeping,
House Beautiful and Homes & Gardens through to the Mail on Sunday's
YOU magazine, the Sunday Times and the Saturday and Sunday Telegraph magazines.
The entire package will provide Britannia's millions of members with access
to the comprehensive quality ranked directory of skilled and reputable
trade professionals; while HlPP will give them the ultimate confidence
in having the work undertaken. Britannia is Britain's second largest mutually-owned
building society, with 2.2 million members.
HlPP will be extended to other HomePro strategic partners in due course.
Anyone who wants to see what HomePro and Britannia are doing to grow the
businesses of trades professionals can check out the initiative at: http://www.britannia.co.uk/improve.
