Layoffs at Marshall Tufflex
According to a report in the Johnston Press newspaper Hastings Today, St Leonards-based Marshall Tufflex is terminating the contracts of several employees in the Extrusion and Moulding sectors of the firm. Staff fear the lay-offs could number as many as 26, with 25 coming from the company's shop floor sites at Castleham and Churchfields Industrial Estates.

Hunter Douglas Q3 Results Show 22.6% Higher Profits on Sales up 7.5%
Hunter Douglas, the world market leader in window coverings (Luxaflex®), and a major manufacturer of architectural products (Luxalon®) reports its results for the first nine months of 2005. Sales were EUR 1,404.2 million, 7.5% higher than EUR 1,306.1m in the first nine months of 2004. The sales increase is attributable to 4.5% volume increase, 1.1% negative currency impact and 4.1% increase from acquisitions. All geographic areas had organic growth except Australia, where sales were level.

Assa Abloy Q3 - Clear Improvement in Europe
Assa Abloy's Group sales in the third quarter totaled SEK 7,019 M (6,447), an increase of 9% compared to previous year. Organic growth was 5%. Translation of foreign subsidiaries' sales to Swedish kronor had a positive effect of SEK 184 M due to changes in exchange rates. Newly acquired companies contributed 1% to sales.

Tessenderlo Group: Profits Down 42%
Tessenderlo Group's sales for the first nine months of 2005 have risen 3.2 % compared with the same period of 2004, totalling 1,598.5 million EUR. The recurrent operating profit (REBIT), which totalled 38.7 million EUR, compared with 66.0 million EUR for the same period of last year, decreased by 41.4 % for the first nine months of the year.
The results of Plastics Converting were still behind at the end of September compared with 2004, but, in the third quarter, reached levels comparable to those of last year, in particular for profiles.

Masco on Downward Trend but £200m Cost Cutting Measures in Place
Masco Corporation reported on November 1st that net sales from continuing operations for the quarter ended September 30th, 2005 increased six percent to a record $3.4bn compared with $3.2bn for the third quarter of 2004. Income from continuing operations for the third quarter of 2005 was $262m compared with $289m m for the comparable period of 2004. Operating profit margins were 13.9% in the third quarter of 2005 compared with 15.4% in the third quarter of 2004.

Linde Q3: Increases Earning Power and Refines Forecast
