EN 1279

The up-to-date position as regards publication and enforcement of the forthcoming European Standard for insulating glass units (EN 1279) is as follows:

But are we expecting too much from Glassex? A contracting industry, a smaller show, and the absence of major industry names, and added to that a new UK glass event for the autumn, should naturally lead to fewer visitors, but year on year exhibitors expect an increase on traffic through the doors. At what cost? More roving bands of students, tyre-kickers, and gangs of fitters searching for the biggest and best watering-hole?

By the same token exhibitors have the right to expect a return on their considerable investment. So perhaps now is the time to take a realistic look at the event and consider a number of options; less open days perhaps? And do we need a four day exhibition? More importantly, with the shortest of gaps between Glassex and Interbuild, is now the time to consider a biennial event?

We were very pleased with the number of people who visited us at The Gl@zine stand, and we look forward to hearing from you in due course. I would especially like to hear any comments on the above. Please email me at tony@theglazine.com
