LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Auf Wiedersehn, Pet
"
In the early 80s, when I worked for a Kömmerling fabricator, I was telephoned by the then unknown Central Television, who had just awarded the franchise but had not yet taken over from the incumbent and asked 'Do you make German windows?'. Being a salesman at the time I said 'Yes' and he went on to explain that they were filming a series about ex-pat workers in Germany and they wanted German style windows for props.

For prices, I thought of a figure and doubled it. They accepted right away as long as they could collect in 10 days. And they brought the cheque with them! Unfortunately, the window never appeared in any episode.

Sad, really."

If you compare the output of The Gl@zine with the leading monthly print magazines, we are well ahead not just in terms of how soon we get breaking news direct to your desktop, but also in the amount of editorial we can deliver. The leading monthly magazine has delivered only 309 news items and a further 686 articles in the same 12 months – around two thirds of our own output.

Our circulation is also way ahead of all the print publications. We send out just under 11,000 Glazines every week, but our total number of unique users since April of this year has already surpassed the 20,000 mark, which demonstrates the number of 'pass-ons' and readers who just look at the website. Our hit rate on the website is also going through the roof: 22,813 pages last month alone (an average of 760 pages every day!).

We know which our most popular pages are - the Part L page has been downloaded by nearly 3,000 people, for example. Another interesting statistic is that we have readers from 56 countries from Colombia to Croatia, from Australia to Yugoslavia. Another benefit of a web based publication!

Finally, I would like to thank all our advertisers, without whom there would be no Gl@zine. Certain companies believed in us from the start and their trust has been amply rewarded in terms of increased traffic to their websites, and hopefully this has translated into hard business. We are a business to business publication and we exist ultimately to serve the industry. I hope you are satisfied with our efforts, but as always, I would welcome your comments or queries.
