Positive Action from the Glass Trade
Although nearly a couple of weeks ago now, and while not wishing to appear mawkish by over-identification with the anniversary - which was essentially to help those left behind to come to terms with their loss - the team at The Gl@zine was especially struck by two stories to come out of the 9/11 commemoration.
Firstly, The Winter Garden, a 10-story vaulted aluminum-and-glass atrium in New York, has reopened, becoming the first major building destroyed in the September 11 attacks to come back to life.

Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, because this is an opportunity where we can all help, Glass Creations has produced a stunning handcrafted glass memorial dedicated to the New York police and firefighters who lost their lives during last year's attack on the World Trade Centre, and is selling copies to raise money for the bereaved children.

Final figures just released by the Glasstec organisers reveal that 1080 exhibitors have taken a total of over 63,000 sqm at this years event which is a 5% increase in exhibitor numbers from 2000 and 10% more exhibition space. To book your places to visit click here. Click here for a comprehensive Stand Guide.

Also worth mentioning two events next month: The 2002 Glass lndustry Annual Health & Safety Conference and the 4th International Conference on Coatings on Glass
