Are you receiving us...?
Hello
again! The week certainly flies by when you are enjoying yourself! Just
one thing to mention this week: we have been getting some feedback from
recipients who cannot see The Gl@zine in its full HTML splendour (it should
look the same in your email browser as it does when you look at the web-based
version of the newsletter at www.theglazine.com).
We have identified several reasons for this, but would be glad to hear
from any network experts who could shed a bit more light on the subject.
It seems that companies with intranets or which are networked behind a
firewall, do not allow incoming data in certain formats. For example,
some companies block emails which contain Javascript, while others do
not allow music/video streaming from the internet. If your email browser
is not configured to accept HTML emails, it may be a good idea to talk
to an IT person about it.
The other main problem is with AOL users, since early versions of AOL
did not recognise hypertext (ie live links) of any sort, let alone HTML
based email. This has all changed with the introduction of AOL 7, so I
would urge all AOL users to upgrade as soon as possible. You either have
to send for a CD or face a two hour download from the AOL website (which
is what I did). After that it is very simple and naturally retains all
your settings from your old AOL browser (and in fact leaves your old browser
intact, so if you don't like it, you can always use the old one).
Anyway,
that's it from me this week. Don't forget to keep sending articles, news
items etc to: copy@theglazine.com
- and thanks to all of you who have sent stuff in. And don't worry if
it hasn't appeared yet - it will!

you wish to consider advertising in the first WEEKLY, first EMAIL newsletter
