Credit Crunch May Yet Bite
It's becoming a little more difficult to ignore the effects of the credit crunch. Persimmom Homes has announced it is to stop building any more homes until the situation improves, and the latest Plimsoll report into the construction industry suggests that 14% of firms in the sector are vulnerable.

There are still high spots in the glass and window sectors which may yet stave off the worse: composite doors and vertical sliders for example. According to Rigby's latest report, the vertical slider market has enjoyed over 30% growth in the past three years.

New DVD

Price rises are a bit like buses and after Solutia raised its PVB prices last week, it was inevitable that others would follow in rapid succession. This week it's Dupont's turn, with an increase of 15% - to be applied from June 1st - on all grades of Butacite.

The Robert Gordon University (RGU) is the first organisation in Scotland to adopt an innovative, eco-friendly construction technique in one of its new builds at its Garthdee campus in Aberdeen.
