Promises and Initiatives
A commitment from the Latium Group this week, following its purchase of Zenith Staybrite from the Administrator earlier this year. Weatherseal MD Ian Blackhurst has promised 'a secure and prosperous future' for around 700 people still employed by the ex-Bowater subsidiary.

Ian adds: 'Zenith Staybrite will continue to trade under its existing band name and currently has orders for more than £10 million. Weatherseal plans to invest further in the Zenith Staybrite brand particularly in sales and customer care'.

Synseal Roof Test

It would be hard to let a week go by without reporting something of interest from Synseal, and this week is no exception. As a result of a nifty bit of direct mail, flagging up some recent conservatory tests, the related micro website received around 5,000 hits. Nick Dutton, Synseal Sales and Marketing Director says. 'Only half the post was delivered yesterday so we're expecting another good day on the site today'.

Another successful initiative comes from Edgetech in the form of its 360 business support package, which had a number of signups since its media launch only two weeks ago. Marketing manager Andy Ball says: With a tough start to the year for many, the timing of the launch couldn't be more appropriate. The Stevens Competition for architectural glass deign has been offered by the Glaziers Company since the 1970s. For many years it was the only annual national design competition for stained glass and architectural glass in the UK.

New Construction Orders: December 2007
Orders in 2007 rose by one per cent compared with 2006, and orders in the fourth quarter of 2007 rose by two per cent compared to the same quarter a year earlier. Orders in the fourth quarter of 2007 rose by two per cent compared to the previous quarter, with increases in all sectors except public non housing and private commercial orders. All orders figures quoted are seasonally adjusted and in constant (2000) prices.
