Pilkington Adds its Weight to WER
In an audacious move by the UK glassmaker, Pilkington Glass has launched energiKare™, an IGU product which uses a combination of low-e glass, low iron glass and gas filling to produce a guaranteed C rating on the WER scale - without having to use warm edge. The Pilkington energiKare™ IGU will be available via the Pilkington processor network and also from IGU processor partners who are eligible to carry exactly the same branding.

Veka Advert
It makes sense for Pilkington to offer a product which employs its existing skills and which it already has production facilities to achieve, and a downstream marketing network. Pilkington energiKare™ is normally made up of 4mm Pilkington K Glass™ and 4mm Pilkington Optiwhite™ and must be filled with argon gas, conforming to EN1279 Part 3.

Synseal Glass Kit

Meanwhile, companies wanting A or B ratings will almost certainly find themselves looking at a warm edge solution, so it is no surprise that we report this week that one of the UK's biggest glass and glazing companies, AC Yule, has made a significant investment in two fully automated Lisec lines to apply Edgetech's Super Spacer® TriSeal™ spacer.

Ultraframe Advert

The Irish market continues to excite, and Spectus is understandably cock-a-hoop at landing the business of County Cork fabricator National Profiles, who has been appointed distributor for Spectus Window Systems for the 32 counties of Ireland. National Profiles will continue to distribute the WHS Halo UPVC and Smart Systems aluminium products.

Edgetech Super Spacer

Finally, we are delighted to learn that U-Fit has had some export success in Norway, selling its range of 'vinterhagen'. Millions watched U-Fit founders John and Ann Armstrong trying to sell 'Conservatoires' (singing academies) to a French firm in the BBC fly-on-the-wall series 'The Armstrongs'. So it's anyone's guess what the Norwegians think they will be getting - igloos perhaps?
