| | Warm Edge and Sustainability Big news from Edgetech this week, as plans for a UK manufacturing facility finally come to fruition. With the UK market for warm edge growing an amazing 300% in the past three years, and set to grow more, the £2.5m plant in Coventry is planned to come on stream in the summer of this year. Better still, Edgetech has promised a launch party!
While forward looking companies such as Edgetech are getting the job done, it is no surprise to find the usual stagnation at government level. Even worse is the utter ineptitude announced this week by the UN junket on Sustainable Development in New York which UK and EU ministers have just returned from empty handed.
One dreads to think of the cost - not to mention the carbon footprint - of this useless shower being jetted out to New York for a two week jolly. But there is worse to come. Just to really rub taxpayers' noses in it they are now all looking forward to failing to reach agreement again in December - in the rather more agreeable surroundings of the Paradise Island of Bali at the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. The mind boggles...
Congratulations, meanwhile, to Nigel Rees, chief exec of the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) who has this week been elected Vice President of the Construction Products Association (CPA). This can only bode well for the efforts of the GGF in getting the interests of the glass and fenestration industries on the political agenda. The
Condolence Page for Ian Spokes has been further
updated and is here.
The level of response has been overwhelming and we hope
it brings a small crumb of comfort to the wife and daughter
he leaves behind. If you knew Ian, please send in your
own thoughts and memories.
