History
in the Making
Now, don't get me started on the ancillaries market - sorry, 'roofline' (showing my age...). A recent conversation with the Freefoam people - who pioneered lead free profile as long ago as 1999 (!) - finds them a bit world-weary about the industry's green credentials but also very upbeat about their new range of co-extruded rainwater goods which will add a new sales opportunity for the industry (more about this next week). Meanwhile, hold the homepage, here's Kestrel joining the calcium zinc club and good on them for doing that. And what else is going on in the, still growing, roofline market? Well, we hear that Andrew Wakelin is now overseeing the market play by SIG, which now has about 100 building products outlets following some astute acquisitions. Finally, I would beg your forbearance - difficult I know if you were out celebrating St George's Day yesterday, and I hope a few of our Scottish, Welsh, Irish and Cornish readers will also be nursing royal hangovers - to ask you to have a look at the first of our efforts at recording the history of the glass and glazing industry. The first part deals with the 1980s, and we would respectfully ask those of you still in the know to update and clarify - this is meant as a 'Work in Progress' (a Blog with editing, in other words...). History Part 1 is here It may be a simple idea, but Synseal's new Protape concept (I was going to call it a solution, but I want to stay out of Private Eye!) is another example of why this Nottinghamshire company remains firmly at the top of its tree. As another example of Synseal combining product value with marketing, we are delighted to launch the company's 'Where's the Billboard?' competition. More about both below. Finally, sad news, from Nigel Yates at Beaufort his business partner and co founder of Beaufort Secure Design Ltd Kevin Jones died on Saturday 14th April 2007. Our thoughts and sympathies are with his family. |
