Safe is your Email Inbox? With the news announced today that the latest computer virus - KLEZ - has become the most rampant of all time, it's probably not a bad time to try to pour a bit of oil on troubled waters: after all, we want you to know that you can enjoy The GL@ZINE without any need for concern. We can state with absolute certainty that The GL@ZINE is totally free from viruses when it gets sent out every week. For a start, The Gl@zine is produced on a MAC, not a PC, and MACs are immune from KLEZ and the vast majority of computer viruses. Secondly, The GL@ZINE is sent out by a third party hosting and mailing specialist which has full in-house anti-virus protection and firewalls. |

However, it is worth reading up a bit about the KLEZ virus, since one of its unpleasant side-effects is that it has caused lots of rows between people. One of its hallmarks, the bogus subject line (which it generates randomly from content of your stored emails), together with its annoying habit of sending itself to people in your address book but pretending to come from other people in your address book (ie not your own computer) has led a lot of people to think their computers are infected when they are not. Hence the arguments. Read more about it here. |
