Glassex is Reborn?
Glassex was clearly smaller and the footfall considerably less than any Glassex I can remember, and had it not been for an epic Tuesday, I suspect we would have been questioning whether Glassex would return for next year.

Veka Advert

This would have masked the real progress the event has made since Dave Broxton decided to take up the challenge. Listening and acting upon the views of the industry was not on the organisers agenda in previous years, while this year initiatives like the Energy Efficiency area, Gold Club, and exhibitor forum - all driven I understand from industry consultation - came into the mix with varying degrees of success.

Synseal Glob-AL

And I am sure it is not likely to stop there as I suspect the opening times and duration along with a possible shift to a midweek slot are likely to come under scrutiny. While numbers are probably the only obvious indicator of a show's success, it has to be said that the industry and its showpiece are in a state of transition, and the exhibitors comments are just as likely to reflect its impact. We have these and the organisers statement here.

Ultraframe Advert

We have an expanded Glassex Review section below, with exhibitors (and their PR companies) proving highly adept at getting their comments out in record time. We shall be covering more next week, so keep it coming!

• On the 18th March 2007 Sue Bentley of Kash N Karry Sealed Units Ltd will be running around Silverstone Racetrack for the charity Cancerbackup. Any donations, please visit the link : http://www.justgiving.com/suebentley

GLASSEX 2007: REVIEW

Glassex is 'Getting There' says Organiser
Glassex knocking has almost become a national sport. And whilst there has been some justification for that in recent times, this year's event showed that someone at Glassex HQ is listening. Everyone has a view about Glassex. And those views can be fairly easily divided between the knockers and supporters, albeit the latter also acknowledging that things ain't what they used to be. And perhaps that should be borne in mind as we dissect this year's event, poring over the bones of what remains the glazing industry's key face-to-face mass forum, as it has been for 28 years ....
