Buildstore opens in Swindon
Last Friday, the massive 67,000 square foot 'National Self Build and Renovation Centre' in Swindon finally opened its doors to the public - or rather those members of the public who are brave enough to embark on a self-build project - apparently there are 20,000 of them every year, which as a group makes them larger than the top housebuilder.

Veka Advert
The self-build market appears to be growing, and has already been well served by The Homebuilding & Renovating Show, which is at the NEC in March, with regional outings booked for the rest of the year in Scotland, Newbury, London, Harrogate and Somerset. One wonders how much impact the new Buildstore will have on these shows, or indeed, whether it will stand up to the increasing influence of the Grand Designs brand in this sector.

Synseal TV Campaign

Major news this week in the glass and glazing market: Edgetech and Pilkington have joined forces to create what will be an indispensible tool for the trade: an online WER calculator, which, while not an official BFRC rating, provides a calculation from over 8000 simulations covering every possible permutation, focussing on different glazing & warm edge technology performances. Profile 22, coincidentally, has also announced an online WER rating advice service. More about both below.
