Recycling
Audited figures on household recycling and composting rates released on 15th December 2006 show that 261 (66%) local authorities met or exceeded their individual targets for 2005/6. 210 (53%) of them also met or exceeded the national target of 25%. This further confirms that recycling has almost quadrupled since 1997.

Changes to Part L of the building regulations in the Republic of Ireland, which came into force in July 2006, will have a dramatic affect on the specification of new and replacement windows in non-housing. Replacement HIP Scheme
The energy debate rumbles on, with Andy Jones of Edgetech determined to confront every MP in the land, and the government itself making a series of rather empty noises about EPCs and HIPs.


Veka Advert
The latest announcement from government proposes that estate agents must include Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) with their property particulars, and that EPCs should form part of the forthcoming Home Information Pack scheme, which is supposed to come into force on 1st June.

So far though, details of which elements of the building - apart from our good old friends loft and cavity insulation - are somewhat scarce, and the hope that double glazing gets a mention must be pretty slim. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if thr HIP scheme founders yet.
