A Promising Start to the Year
Some encouraging noises are coming out of the UK glazing industry this week, despite Deceuninck's rather patchy Q4 (although it was the US which mainly let them down). Synseal and Advantage are both firing on all cylinders with their New Year promotions, with Synseal signing up an incredible 90 conservatory fabricators!

We also have major expansion stories from Cervoglass, which has opened a new £1.2m factory, and Kömmerling, which has spent around £6m in a new HQ building near Lichfield. We also report on the new structure of NSG after its acquisition of Pilkington, and an MBO of Securistyle.

Synseal TV Campaign

Good news, meanwhile, for readers of Glass Age. Following the magazine's closure in January, its former Northern sales manager Andy Westhead has managed to purchase the readership details from CMPi but after negotiations, has been unable to save the Glass Age name. Continuity will be guaranteed with John Westhead working on sales in the south and Dominic Bentham remaining on board in an editorial capacity. Glass Times will launch in late February and the new magazine will have a stand at Glassex. Construction
This Annual 2006 Compendium of Statistics covers all aspects of housing and includes the following highlights: Over 163,000 new dwellings (excluding conversions and change of use) were completed in England during the financial year ending 31 March 2005, a rise of five per cent on the previous year. This is the fourth consecutive year where there has been a significant increase over the previous year. Overall there has been a 25 per cent increase since 2001-02.

The Deceuninck Group has announced a fourth quarter turnover for 2006 of €166m, representing a downturn of 1.5%, although it points to strong turnover figures in growth regions and the success of of Twinson and Zendow. The worst performance was in the US, where sales dropped 20%.
