You've Got to Be in It to Win It
This week we report on the official launch of the UK Aluminium in Renovation Awards. The Awards will be split into 6 categories with the most innovative in the eyes of the panel of Judges, chaired by Bill Gething, receiving a first prize of £5000. The date for the last entries will be the 2nd of February 2007 and any refurbished building completed after the 1st of January 2005 is eligible for entry. So get those entries in! More here, or below.

Veka Advert
Talking of Awards, The Gl@zine is to take a more proactive role in one of the key categories of the G-07 Awards next year. Any glass and glazing projects or installations which are used on The Gl@zine as 'Project of the Week' will be automatically entered into this category. Take a look at this week's entry - here - and you will see why.

Synseal TV Campaign

Synseal has announced today that it is to run a multi-million pound consumer campaign, via TV advertising, to support its conservatory offering, for the benefit of its fabricators and installers. This is a bold move, and efforts in this direction over the years have not been very successful - eg K-Glass in the 1980s and more recently, Ultraframe's consumer led campaign with Uri Geller as the somewhat erratic figurehead. However, Pilkington tried again with Activ and enjoyed a massive sales boost as a result, so if Synseal gets it right - which it has an annoying (to its competitors anyway) habit of doing - it could be taking the first step into the future.
