Time
to Skip the Country
In the meantime, we do have some news for you this week, not least that Veka and Sash have pretty much got married after a 20 year courtship. Ain't that sweet? It seems to be a trend for system companies to protect their downstream markets in this way, and one wonders whether this will end up with the kind of vertical integration we saw in the glass industry in the 1980s, or will it be more a case of the tail wagging the dog? We also have an interesting take on Part L from Wendland, who reckons that 'Approved Document L1B (Conservation of Fuel and Power) allows for substantially glazed buildings, under which category its Sundyal system falls. Sundyal is a solid roof system, used in place of a conventional glazed roof. Because the roof system is solid rather than glass or polycarbonate, homeowners are offered better thermal efficiency'. Mmm... looks more like what we used to call 'an extension' to me. |
