Interbuild off to a Good Start

Interbuild 2006 got away to a flying start at the NEC on Sunday as tradesmen turned out in force.

The first day attendance of more than 6,000 visitors was an improvement on 2004, when the UK's premier construction event last took place.

And Interbuild 2006 Event Direct Gordon Thomas explained: 'It was a very promising start to the show and we are confident it will build from there.

Construction
Orders in the twelve months to January 2006 rose by eight per cent compared with 2004, and orders in the three months to January 2006 rose by 16 per cent compared to the same period a year earlier. Orders in the three months to January 2006 rose by six per cent compared to the previous three months, with decreases in private housing, infrastructure and public non housing orders being offset by increases in public housing, private industrial and private commercial orders.

While I agree with some of Malcolm Jennings of Frank Allart & Company Ltd comments in a recent Glazine on energy efficiency and the future of the industry, I believe his views on Energy Saving Recommended windows are misguided. He doubts that anyone could 'financially justify taking out old windows and replacing [them] with new thermally efficient ones' as 'most homes have double glazing'.
