Eyes on the UK Construction Market This week we have more evidence, if evidence were needed, that the UK's construction market is the envy of the Western World. American companies, mighty, but in a domestic recession, are viewing Europe with a view to expansion: for example, Guardian Glass has just announced that it will build a £100m glass plant in Goole - not that far, as it happens, from the Saint Gobain glass plant which was fired up less than two years ago. Other US groups - such as Masco - are also buying into the action by acquiring UK companies (Avocet Hardware and Griffin Windows so far, with another major window industry player to be announced later this week). |
