Happy Birthday to Us!

On November 13th The Gl@zine celebrated its 4th birthday, a date which funnily enough, we also share with the invention, in 1990, of the World Wide Web itself.
Enough has changed in the four years since we launched The Gl@zine to make your head spin, but it is amazing to think that it was only 15 years ago that a certain Tim Berners-Lee (a Brit, by the way) created the first hypertext document. Since then, the internet, and its killer application, email, have both become an indispensible part of all our lives, for business and pleasure, in work and in the home.

The Gl@zine has, of course, grown in the last four years, not least in the way in which it looks, although we have remained true to our policy of keeping it simple, in plain, easy to use HTML. You can still see our launch effort here. The Gl@zine has also grown in terms of the number of editorial items we feature, which now averages 48 new articles per week. The Gl@zine website currently comprises some 10,819 individual files, which are interconnected with an amazing 50,852 hyperlinks, plus an additional 15,093 links to external websites. The mighty Google search engine now has 913 pages from The Gl@zine in its database.

Synseal Advert

Our circulation has naturally increased as well. Starting with a database of around 8,000 email addresses, this has now increased to 11,383 named individuals. In addition, The Gl@zine website receives a huge number of visitors outside of our email circulation. So far this year 173,158 unique visitors have looked at a total of 334,887 pages. Although 92% of those visitors are from the UK (or .com), the website has welcomed visitors from a staggering 111 countries worldwide.

That's probably enough facts for now, but we have more if you want them! In the meantime, thank you for reading us and supporting us with your advertising and we look forward to serving the industry for many years to come.
