The issue at the centre of all this is the assumption that because most conservatories are not subject to Building Control, no thought has ever been given to the possibility that they might add to the risk to the occupants of a house in the event of a fire. However, it appears that much consideration has already been given to this debate and overall the role of the conservatory in the event of a fire has been accepted as potentially helpful (as something to land on in jumping from an upstairs window) rather than a hindrance to the efforts of fire-fighters and their ladders. |
