Construction Week 2004
(October
6th-13th)
run by ConstructionSkills is the nationwide campaign designed
to promote today's construction industry to young people and to
give them the chance to experience the varied and exciting career
opportunities in this field. On
17th September Construction Minister Nigel Griffiths received
Sir Michael Latham's review of the operation of the Construction
Act.

As usual, one of the best reasons for going to an international exhibition attended by pretty much everyone from that industry is the quality of the gossip, most of which is unrepeatable until it actually comes true of course! One major talking point, naturally, was the current round of price rises being blamed on oil and other raw material prices. This week we report on price hikes from no fewer than five manufacturers: Kömmerling for ig sealants, Dupont and Solutia for PVB, and Rhodia and Wacker for silicones. There are no doubt others in the pipeline. |
