VEKA 'Ecobuild' a Better a Future for Fenestration

Believed to be making its most significant appearance at Ecobuild (26th to the 28th February 2008, Earls Court 2) to date, window, door and conservatory profile systems giant VEKA plc is back, and this time is showcasing its closed loop recycling operations that is deemed to be broadening the fenestration industry into a new era of sustainability.

Over the last year VEKA has been working long and hard to develop its closed loop recycling plant that reprocesses post consumer PVCu products, in particular windows, back into the highest-grade quality raw material for extruding new profiles. This new facility, based in Dartford, not only acts as a collection receptacle for old material, but also enables VEKA to clean and colour match the waste profile before extruding it into new, premium quality window and door profiles. This process can be carried out time after time, producing its world-renowned PVCu systems that are impossible to tell apart from profile that has been produced from the original virgin raw material.

But it does not stop there! VEKA's commitment to the environment and sustainable production is continually subjected to a stringent review procedure that is designed to better existing practises in all areas of its business activities. This stretches from in-house conservation of waste, to the development of it's A-Rated energy saving glazing products, to assist the country in meeting the Kyoto protocol reduction targets for greenhouse gas emissions.

Commenting on the decision to appear at 2008's show VEKA Marketing Manager, John Warburton said: ‘This show has been put together to give leaders in construction, the built environment and sustainable design a new direction and perspective in which to take their respective companies forward. Not only that, it is the perfect place for like minded corporations to do some serious business with those companies that are at the forefront of sustainable development of which VEKA is one! We have worked relentlessly to be at the top of our game and those interested in fenestration recycling procedures should pay our stand a visit this year for a fresh outlook into the future of recycling methods.

‘Visitors to our stand will also find out that all VEKA personnel have been given in-depth training on environmental issues and the company itself has gained accreditation to ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems Licence No EMS 59308. This not only puts our business in the best possible position, but also highlights our employees' commitment to ongoing development...a crucial factor when it comes to partnering schemes and developing future relationships centred in this arena,’ concludes John.

For those interested in seeing the latest development in fenestration sustainability, a visit to Stand E194 at this year's show is an absolute must.
