Double Glazing Achieves ISO 14001
Kent-based
trade, commercial and retail window and door manufacturer and installer
Piper (Double Glazing) Ltd has confirmed
its commitment to reducing its impact on the environment by achieving
the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, for its Commercial, Trade
and Domestic activities.
ISO 14001 specifies the actual requirements for an E.M.S. It applies to
those environmental aspects for which the organization has control and
over which it can be expected to have an influence, and provides a framework
within which Piper's has implemented a series of environmental measures
to reduce the company's impact locally and wherever the company operates.
Additionally the standard helps Piper's to maintain and improve its environmental
management systems.
Piper Double Glazing has been at the forefront of the development of 'A'
rated windows under the Window Energy Ratings scheme, being the first
in the UK to achieve both A-rated triple and double glazed windows and
with an emphasis on the products being commercially viable and affordable.
Now, under the standard, Piper's will further develop its commitment to
Eco Labelling, continuously auditing its impact on the environment, producing
life cycle assessments, performance evaluations and the environmental
prospects for its products.
Piper Double Glazing's General Manager Alistair Craig says that being
awarded the standard underlines the company's long held commitment to
reducing its impact on the environment: We have operated to very
high environmental standards for some time now and the achievement of
ISO 14001 is actually the result of many years of development. We are
at the forefront of the development of workable energy efficient glazing
products; now we can demonstrate that our factories and staff are also
committed to conservation.
Piper Double Glazing manufactures high quality windows, doors and conservatories
in two factories based in Ramsgate, Kent. The factories have a combined
floor space of 75,000 feet2 in which it produces up to 3,000 frames per
week for trade, commercial and retail customers, using advanced manufacturing
techniques.
