Panels Protected by Clearshield
Stunning
sandblasted glass panels at a parish church in Buckinghamshire are now
protected from unsightly fingermarks by Ritec's
ClearShield glass surface protection system. The series of eight panels
at St Peter and St Paul in Great Missenden feature scenes from the life
of Christ and complement a magnificent three-bladed glass screen.
The main screen and smaller panels were all made by decorative glass specialist,
Daedalian Glass, based in Lancashire. Dividing the previously underused
south transept from the main body of the church, the glass screens have
created a separate area for Sunday school sessions and general meetings.
Leading ecclesiastical artist, Nicholas Mynheer, created the original
designs for the project, which Daedalian's team then interpreted in glass
using a variety of sandblasting, kiln-forming, fused glass and bonding
techniques. The complex images for the low level panels were sandblasted
onto mirrored glass, which obstructs the view through the glass and ensures
greater privacy.
Daedalian uses ClearShield on all its sandblasted glass, says Director
Chris Walmsley, Unprotected sandblasted glass is particularly susceptible
to marking and is very difficult to clean. ClearShield Sandblast Protect
eliminates this problem and makes the glass virtually maintenance-free.
It also gives the glass a silky finish, more like satin acid etching,
which is very attractive.
ClearShield is simply and safely spray-applied onto glass in your factory,
giving high-quality and durable protection, resulting in a uniform finish
every time. ClearShield Sandblast Glass Protect is a specialist formulation
developed to leave less residue on the rough surface of sandblasted glass,
making the final application process easier.
Daedalian Glass has gained a reputation for creating spectacular architectural
and decorative glass features for installations throughout the UK and
overseas. The company operates from a well-equipped studio in Poulton-le-Fylde
and is experienced in a diverse range of glass working techniques. As
a licensed ClearShield applicator, Daedalian also has facilities for spray-applying
ClearShield in-house. Chris Walmsley concludes, We received full
training from Ritec and find it a quick and easy process. It's a great
added-value service and means we can offer our clients a beautiful product
that will retain its good looks with minimal maintenance.
ClearShield has 25 years of track records and is proven to give added
value to glass manufacturers, processors and fabricators. For more information
