Door Panels Gears Up with New Vans
Phoenix Door Panels, the UK privately-owned composite
and PVC-U door panel manufacturer, has invested in three new Citroen Relay
vans to further enhance frequency and reliability of deliveries to customers
throughout the country.
The
3.5-tonne Luton-bodied vehicles, all sporting the distinctive blue Phoenix
logo, increase the dedicated fleet to nine - ensuring that at least 85
out of every 100 door panels are carried on the company's own transport.
The investment in new vehicles follows the announcement of record weekly
production figures in late November/early December when output exceeded
1,550 feature panels - the best in the company's history. So the new vehicles
are certainly going to be kept busy.
These are brand new, contract hire vehicles with full maintenance
contracts, so in the event of any problems, a replacement is ready to
ensure there's no disruption to service, explains Phoenix National
Sales Manager, Haydon Statham.
2008 looks set to be another good year for us, so further investment
in the fleet is also planned for later this year to ensure we maintain
the highest levels of service for our customers in the future.
The vans were signwritten by well-known glazing industry vehicle specialist
Glazingvans, which has been working with Phoenix for over ten years. Each
is equipped with satellite navigation to optimise delivery times and schedules
from the company's Somersham base, near Huntingdon.
Apart from extremes such as Holyhead or Cornwall, we get to everywhere
south of the M62 at least once a week on our own transport; something
which is much appreciated by our customers. Panels arrive safely in good
condition and to our customer's optimum satisfaction, adds Haydon.
And as smaller vans are more economical, we can deliver more frequently
and cost-effectively - often up to eight to 12 drops per day, and daily
for some key accounts.
