PN
Performs for Perth & Kinross Council
PN System hardware from Groupco
is playing its part in the success of a £3 million social housing
improvement programme by Perth & Kinross Council in Scotland. PN UNI
Top Swing fittings have been specified for 16,000 new PVC-U windows in
the Council's housing stock. Local fabricator and installer, Sidey, is
the appointed contractor for the project and has supplied and fitted nearly
9,000 replacement windows to date. The work completed by Sidey's team
so far has scored an impressive 99% in tenant satisfaction surveys.
Sidey
won the tender in the face of stiff competition from suppliers throughout
the UK with a 'Best Value' package in terms of quality and price. The
windows are being fabricated at Sidey's state-of-the-art facility in Perth
from WHS Halo System 10 profile. They are being produced in a smart, white
finish and tenants can choose between a white or teak internal cill to
complement their interior décor.
Perth & Kinross Council specified the PN UNI Top Swing System as a
robust, low maintenance hardware solution that meets all the necessary
standards. The System has been successfully tested to BS7950 for enhanced
tenant security and BS6375-2, which relates to operation and strength
performance. The gearing is concealed when closed and allows the window
to be fully reversed for safe cleaning from the inside - particularly
convenient for multi-storey dwellings. All the movement takes place outside
the frame, so preventing any disturbance of curtains or blinds. The angled
opening also enables emergency escape, depending on the structural size
of the opening.
The PN System combines the benefits of modern functionality with a traditional
look and its sturdy construction permits higher performance when tested
with minimal extra cost and no additional machining and preparing. The
standard weights and sizes achievable are, in most cases, greater than
with conventional hardware options - for example for the Top Swing it
is 60kg, while for the Side Swing it is up to 50kg.
Given all these benefits, plus a comprehensive warranty, the PN System
has become a popular choice with specifiers in both the public and private
sectors. In addition to the Top Swing version selected by Perth &
Kinross Council, the PN range is available for a wide variety of other
window styles in PVC-U, timber, aluminium or timber/aluminium composite.
Established for over 75 years, Sidey has grown to become Scotland's largest
PVC-U window and door manufacturer. Steve Hardy, Commercial Sales Director
at Sidey comments, Maintaining customer satisfaction from point
of order to installation on site demands reliability right through the
supply chain. As usual, Groupco and PN performed as promised, delivering
on time and in full - and that's what a winning partnership is all about.
