JELD-WEN
Fire Egress Windows Launched
Timber window manufacturer JELD-WEN
has introduced a new range of Regency Fire Egress windows, as part of
helping developers and contractors meet Building Regulations requirements.
The
latest updates to Approved Document B states that there must be escape
routes from habitable rooms in many situations, with window openings required
to be 450mm or wider. The new Fire Egress windows feature two side hung
casements combined with a flying mullion to provide clear, unrestricted
opening required by Approved Document B. The range has been designed to
co-ordinate with the popular Regency style windows that are widely used
both for private and public housing.
Tony Pell, Product Manager for JELD-WEN explains: 'Regency is our most
popular style of window and we developed it in response to demand from
customers for a simple solution to meet fire escape requirements. The
new range has been welcomed by contractors and developments and we are
anticipating high demand for refurbishments and new builds.'
Developers can incorporate the Regency range of Fire Egress windows in
combination with non-fire egress options, enabling the external elevation
to match by through the use of Regency windows throughout a building.
Fire Egress windows can also be specified to meet with Secured by Design
requirements. In these cases they should have laminated glass externally
and annealed Low-E glass internally. JELD-WEN also supplies Releasable
Restrictors, which are recommended in fire escapes.
As well as providing fire escape windows, JELD-WEN also provides a complete
range of fire doors within its range.
