New Glazed Fire Door from Evergreen Achieves '64 Minute Rating'

Composite door manufacturer and supplier Evergreen Door has launched its new double glazed GRP fire leaf, which not only passes but exceeds the 30 minute fire door test at 64 minutes - double the industry standard.

The new cassette system has been designed to simplify fire door manufacture combining high resistance to heat and flames with advanced security features using a clip system.

This means Evergreen is able to meet not only meet and comprehensively exceed standards set out in BS476:Part 22 30 Minute Fire Rating but also to achieve a PAS24/Secured By Design (SBD) security rating.

‘Traditionally security has been an Achilles' heel for fire doors, which because for the most part they rely on a completely different hardware system, they have been less secure than SBD doors.

‘We have now developed a completely new system that means we can use exactly the same hardware and fittings on both our SBD and fire doors.

‘This means we can achieve the 30 minute rating with ease and maintain high security performance.’

The new Evergreen fire door cassette uses exactly the same hardware and fittings as the standard SBD door, however, it features a specially developed intumescent material that expands in reaction to heat, holding the unit in place. This means Evergreen can achieve its exceptional fire rating but by using standard clips deliver the same high security performance.

The fire cassette is also fully compatible with all of Evergreen's GRP leafs, creating a fully integrated system. Available on a three day lead time, fire door leafs also deliver standard benefits of Evergreen door systems and won't warp or twist, deliver superb heat insulation and are easy to fabricate and glaze.
