Edgetech
and The Gl@zine Kick off the 2008 VAT Campaign at Glassex
Edgetech in conjunction with the Gl@zine has chosen
Glassex as the venue to launch the 2008 Reduce VAT campaign for Energy
Saving Recommended windows.
Andy Jones, Managing Director of Edgetech UK comments: We ended
2007 on a positive note when Tim Yeo, Chairman of the Environmental Audit
Committee, wrote to us with an invitation to submit evidence on the issue
to the next inquiry. We've since kept in touch with Mr Yeo and indeed
John McFall, Chairman of Treasury Select Committee and Peter Luff, Chairman
of Trade & Industry Select Committee keeping our industry efforts
top of mind. Edgetech has also continued to work with the Energy Saving
Trust, GGF and the Energy Efficiency Partnership for Homes.
But with a new year - a tough start for many - it's time to reinvigorate
our campaign both individually and collectively as an industry. Edgetech
is about to try to make in roads into the European policy decision makers
and will keep Gl@zine readers up to date on how this goes. But as an industry
there is so much more we can do and Glassex seems the ideal platform on
which to do this. Edgetech's stand (4-B25) and the Gl@zine's stand (4-B45)
will both have information about how your organisation can add your voice
and weight to the campaign, as well as a host of useful contact information,
template letters and other lobbying tools.
Richard Schwarz adds: It seems appropriate to use the industry trade
exhibition to highlight and advance the cause of industry issues like
the Reduce VAT campaign. It's one of the few events over the course of
the year when our market in its entirety has the opportunity to contribute
proactively to an issue that if successful will have a huge positive impact
on the businesses of trade and retail window and glass companies on the
UK. Along with Edgetech, we look forward to seeing visitors at the show
to talk about the campaign.
