Smart
Systems Invests in Third Spiral Stretch Wrapper from Aetna UK
Smart
Systems is a member of the Aliplast Group and for the past 25 years
has grown to become one of the UK's leading aluminium systems companies.
Based in Yatton, North Somerset, the company says that it has built
a reputation for product innovation, design expertise, technical competence
and quality.
Following
a competitive tender in 2004, Smart System's warehouse manager, Adrian
Ellis took delivery of his first Robopac Spiror 400 HP fully automatic
spiral wrapping and banding machine from Aetna UK. Following expansion
in the latter part of the same year, Aetna provided a second spiral
wrapper.
In 2007, a third new spiral wrapping machine was on Adrian's shopping
list. This time he went straight back to Aetna UK. He explained, As
our two existing machines have proved extremely reliable, fast, safe
and perfect for spiral wrapping, we saw little point in looking elsewhere.
We have been delighted with the after sales service provided by John
Moore from Aetna. He knows his products, is always responsive to our
needs and is willing to pass his knowledge on to others. I am very pleased
to say that our relationship, both with Aetna UK and in particular John
Moore, has continued to develop and deepen.
The Spiror stretch wrapper is equipped with all the features required
to wrap aluminium without damage. Features such as polyurethane drive
rollers, automatic top pressure rollers, infeed and outfeed conveyors
and automatic side roller adjustment, are ideal for a demanding duty
cycle with random cross sectional pieces.
The 400 model can handle product groupings from 25mm to 300mm wide and
from 20mm to 200mm tall without adjustment. Minimum length 800mm, maximum
length is infinite. For larger sections, Robopac make 8 different ring
sizes up to a maximum 2500mm.
A touch screen display and the ability to store 10 separate programs
which can be recalled in seconds, comes as standard. The Spiror 400HP
is fully guarded to CE standard and has electronically variable conveyor
and ring speeds to give optimum film overlap and linear speed. Standard
250mm wide film can be used from 15 to 50 microns thick, both plain
and printed.
Smart Systems is about to start building a 120,000 sq ft, £22
million extension which will include two state of the art extrusion
lines and two paint plants. This new facility will also create around
120 new jobs.
Added Ellis; A production plant of this size will obviously require
additional material wrapping facilities. Aetna is at the top of my list
of preferred machinery suppliers and will be our first port of call
when the time arrives.
