Windows Receives Environmental Recognition
Following
an assessment by an independent body, Stockport windows manufacturer,
Alexander Windows (Alexander), has
been awarded ISO 14001 certification.
First
published in 1996, ISO 14001 specifies the requirements for an environmental
management system and applies to those environmental aspects which the
organisation has control over and can be expected to have an influence
on.
Alexander sales and marketing director, Richard Robinson (pictured), says:
'This recognition is a mark of our commitment to establishing and effectively
managing a system that sees us recycle everything from office paper to
glass and uPVC off-cuts.
'That, combined with our ongoing efforts to lower emissions by fitting
each of our vehicles with diesel particulate filters and even the installation
of movement-controlled lighting around our premises demonstrates the strength
of our intent when it comes to lowering the impact on the environment
of everything we do as a business.'
Wynne Walker, who undertook the assessment for Quality Management Systems
(QMS), was impressed with the company's efforts, saying: 'Environmental
impact is becoming a huge global issue and it is good to see businesses
taking steps to ensure that they do their best to minimise any adverse
impact on their local and indeed their global environment. Everybody at
Alexander Windows should be proud of their attitude and also of the practical
efficiency they have displayed in achieving this certification.'
Richard concludes: 'I am delighted to have achieved this recognition and
hope it sends the right message not only to all of our staff but also
to our many customers across the region.
'Our commitment to the environment is long-standing and we will continue
to demonstrate a positive, responsible attitude across our business. In
addition to the environmental benefits, landfill tax is increasing at
33% per year so we are starting to see real cost savings as a result of
our efforts.'
