Trade Signs Off Stuga/Sturtz ZX5-S Deal at Glassex
Castleford based Rehau fabricator Yorkshire Trade Windows
has been so pleased with its Stuga Flolwine-3 cutting & prepping centre
over the last five years that the company didn't hesitate to go back to
Stuga when it decided to buy a centre with more capacity to cope with
its expansion.
After
considering other options in the market Managing Director Stuart Drewell
asked Stuga if the company could offer a very high output cutting &
prepping centre at the leading edge of technology so that he could make
another long term investment that could be relied on for years of trouble
free service. Stuart had looked at top end machines from well known German
manufacturers but still wanted to have the benefit of the Stuga service
ethic with guaranteed call out times, ex stock spare parts and a UK based
technology centre.
What Stuart hadn't realised was that Stuga had a sales and technology
agreement with uPVC machinery fabricator Sturtz Maschinenbau. Once Stuga
Sales Director Steve Haines explained how the mutual co-operation worked
giving the full benefit of the very latest leading edge German technology
supplied through a company dedicated to technology and an absolute top
class service Stuart couldn't wait to see the jointly developed ZX5-S
working at Glassex. He wasn't disappointed!
The ZX5-S is designed to quietly and comfortably produce in excess of
1,000 internally glazed windows per standard single shift working week
without fuss or error and visitors to the stand shared by Stuga and Sturtz
at Glassex could not fail to be impressed and so it was with Yorkshire
Windows which signed up for the first machine on the spot. The machine
is now back in Germany working daily under test conditions running pre-production
trials and being fully extended ahead of delivery to Yorkshire Trade in
May.
The
ZX5-S utilises the well proven 'U' shaped configuration to ensure the
best possible ergonomics for operators. It also utilises the highly respected
and well proven rotary tooling technology that has proven reliable in
spite of the best attempts of competitors to create a negative picture.
The ZX5-S has linear drives on the two main carriages as well as on the
rotary tooling system and utilises standard infeed, outfeed and transfer
tables already used by Sturtz on its continental and American cutting
& prepping centres. CNC controlled grippers on both cutting and prepping
ensure trouble free handling and movement of all known profiles used in
the British window market.
With noise becoming more a feature in work place legislation the ZX5-S
with a complete sound proofing chamber over cutting & prepping is
well placed to cope with new legislation as well as improve the environment
around it.
With a reliable 1,000 windows plus output and accuracy and reliability
built in the ZX5-S is very much at the leading edge of technology where
it will inevitably compare with top end machines like the BJM and Schirmer,
also looked at by Yorkshire Trade before making the companys decision
to buy from Sturtz and Stuga.
