Olympic Hopeful is a True Shooting Star

Specialist supplier of PVC-U products The Window Store is celebrating the news that clay pigeon shooting star Charlotte Kerwood has been selected as first nomination for the ladies Olympic Trap event at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The Window Store has sponsored the shooting ace for more than three years and has watched her go from strength to strength.

After an impressive year in 2007 which included adding two more medals, a British number one ranking, a World number seven ranking and a selection for the Beijing Olympics in August, Charlotte is continuing to aim for the skies in 2008.

Karl Lodwick, regional manager, The Window Store said: ‘We have had a long standing sponsorship agreement with Charlotte and have enjoyed seeing her achievements grow.
‘Although she has only been competing in the Olympic Trap for a few years, her rapid progression has impressed us all and her hard work and dedication has shone through.’

Charlotte began shooting at the age of 12 at her father's shooting range in East Sussex and the Olympic hopeful still practices there today.

With more than 60,000 competitive clay pigeon shooters in the UK it has traditionally been the older competitors that have won the bulk of the medals. However, the determined 21 year old is setting her sights firmly on the Olympic podium.

Karl said: ‘There are only 18 places for female shooters in the Olympic Trap event and with final selection in early June, Charlotte's impressive record is sure to stand her in good stead.

‘Charlotte also has the European Championships this year as well as four World Cup events so the build-up to Beijing will be hectic for her. What's more, London 2012 is also very much in her sights and we're sure her prospects will be even better as she matures.’

Justin Davies, general manager, The Window Store said: ‘We are delighted to be supporting Charlotte with her 2008 Olympic bid and we have high hopes that her sporting success will continue for a long time to come.

‘No British woman has ever won a trap shooting medal and only three British men have ever claimed Olympic honours so Charlotte's aim for medal-success is even more important.
‘Whatever the outcome in Beijing, everyone at The Window Store is incredibly proud of what Charlotte has achieved and what she is destined to achieve in the years to come.’

Due to The Window Store's continued support for Charlotte, the company is now also sponsoring a team of five shooters.
