Groupco
goes to Guernsey
A
hardware package from Groupco is complementing
the specification of a multi-million pound residential development on
Guernsey. Island based Devil's End Joinery is manufacturing bespoke timber
doors and windows for the project by Wheeler Developments, which is in
a sought after location in the capital of St Peter Port. The specialist
joinery company is sourcing all the furniture and fittings for the doors
and windows from Groupco. Jeremy Le Tissier, Proprietor of Devil's End
Joinery, says Groupco's one stop
service provides him with all the leading European products under one
banner and simplifies the supply chain.
Four
of the seven properties in the King's Road Development have been completed
to date, including a stunning Georgian show home and three stylish mews
houses. The remaining three properties are to be completed in the next
phase and will bring the total number of windows being supplied by Devil's
End Joinery to approximately 200, together with around 40 doors of various
types. Because the development is in a conservation area in one of Guernsey's
oldest roads, the architectural features had to be in keeping with the
historic surroundings. This meant traditionally styled timber doors and
classic casement windows with face-applied Georgian Bars, all manufactured
from the finest hardwood. The windows' period styling is cleverly combined
with modern standards of thermal performance, security and durability,
explains Jeremy Le Tissier.
They are all double glazed units and meet the latest building regulations,
and because we're using top quality locking systems from Groupco, residents
can also feel completely secure.
All the windows feature Roto Twin-cam Security Locks which are designed
for even greater protection against burglary. All cams engage behind individual
recesses on both sides of the strike, in both locking and night-vent position.
Any attempt to force a cam out of its locked position only drives the
other cam into its recess. Exterior door security is provided by Fuhr's
Multisafe 856 and 841 locks. These proven multipoint locking systems from
Groupco feature two hook bolts, latch and deadbolt for effective resistance
to forced entry.
The Groupco hardware package specified for this prestigious project also
includes door handles from Hoppe's Designer range in a polished brass
and chrome finish, which are complemented by Hoppe's Tokyo Cranked window
handles in Gold PVD. Groupco has also supplied Nico's Egress Easy Clean
Friction Stays, specially designed to allow a window to be opened to 90
degrees to comply with emergency escape regulations. The Hinge also features
a simple push button mechanism to move the window smoothly along the track
for convenient cleaning from the inside.
Established in 1995, Devil's End Joinery is one of only a few joinery
shops on Guernsey capable of manufacturing high performance timber doors
and windows for projects like the King's Road Development. The company
has invested around £50,000 in updating its facilities in the last
three years and now offers the latest production techniques and factory
finished systems using the Sikkens coating system from Akzo Nobel.
Although it still makes bespoke items, such as staircases and bedroom
furniture, doors and windows now account for around 65% of output. Jeremy
Le Tissier says his company's success is built on service and quality
and he demands hardware that matches these high standards. As well
as top quality, value for money products Groupco can also advise on specification
and can usually deliver to the island within seven days. Some mainland
suppliers quote anything up to six weeks, so Groupco's speedy turnaround
is a real advantage when you are working to a tight schedule.
