Cotswold takes Hardware to Extreme

Cotswold's new Extreme Heavy Duty range of hinges is meeting growing demand for hardware for larger side hung and triple glazed windows. This latest development allows fabricators to fit friction stays on standard side hung or egress casement windows weighing up to 35kg.

The Extreme range is strengthened by the replacement of two standard duty link arms with two heavy duty arms. It is available in four sizes: a 12 or 16 inch version with a 90 degree opening and the 12 or 16 inch Egress Easi-Clean hinges, featuring a simple mechanism to enable cleaning from the inside. The Extreme hinge is compatible with all the major profile types and is manufactured as part of two dedicated production lines in low stack (13mm) and high stack (16/17mm) versions.

Prior to the launch of Cotswold's Extreme Heavy Duty Hinge, the options for fitting hardware to a profile with a standard eurogroove on a window weighing over 26kg were limited, says Iain Morgan, Cotswold's MD, ‘More and more of our UK customers have been asking for hardware for larger window designs, which are becoming more prolific. Our new Extreme friction stay provides them with a simpler and more cost-effective alternative to fitting tilt and turn or reversible windows.’

The Extreme Heavy Duty Hinge was first developed by Cotswold for its customers in South East Asia, where large side hung casement windows are particularly popular in high-rise developments.

Iain Morgan concludes, ‘Bigger windows are now being specified in the UK to bring more light into our homes, while the use of heavier triple glazed units is on the increase for energy conservation purposes. With the Extreme range we can now offer fabricators a cost-effective solution to meet these market trends.’
