K Show Attracts more Overseas Visitors

The K show, in Düsseldorf, Germany, achieved a 4.8% increase in visitor numbers compared to the previous event in 2004. This growth was driven by a 19% increase in visitors from outside of Germany.

According to preliminary figures released by the event's organiser, Messe Düsseldorf, the total attendance figure is expected to be 242,000 people, compared to 231,000 three years ago.

Of this total, 43% came from Germany, 31% from the rest of Europe and 26% from outside of Europe. There were also increases in representatives from the Americas. US and Canadian visitors numbered 8,300, up by around 20%, while those from Central and South America totalled 11,000, compared to 8,000 at the last event.

Neighbouring countries Netherlands (10,000) and Belgium (8,500) accounted for the largest numbers of European visitors from outside of Germany. The number of attendees from the UK grew from around 3,800 to more than 4,500.

Asian visitors grew from 23,000 in 2004 to 30,000 last year, with India making up the largest contingent with around 10,000 people.

As previously reported, the number of exhibitors participating in the event grew from 2,904 to 3,130, representing an increase of 7.8%.
